I am having the same problem as the original poster (which doesnt seem to be addressed in forums yet). I just downloaded the latest version from the homepage. I installed, setup account and the did the required patch (3.7mb). The patch seems to go fine until 100% (213/213) where is says:
"force bnp unpacking - checksums do not correspond"
Then it goes to the splash screen and asks me to "Click Here to Relaunch" but when I do the application just closes and never actually relaunches (though I did see that it created a batch file in the games root directory).
I have tried deleting the UNPACK folder and applying the patch again, same problem. I uninstalled, reinstalled and tried again, same issue. I hit the check files button and it says everything is ok. What is going on here? I cannot be the only person with this issue. There are probably many novice users who downloaded this demo and then just deleted it after the glitch and didn't bother to report it on the forum. This issue should be addressed.
I really want to play this game, but right now I cannot. If anyone knows of a fix or has a workaround (ie an already patched installer) please let me know. Thanks.

I'm not sure but I think I experienced a similar problem recently. One of the files' checksums did not correspond, so I did a Check Data and it worked the next time. Again, not sure if this is related, but I suggest Check Data just in case?

Have you tried thoroughly scanning your system for viruses and then disabling antivirus before patching?
Instead of relaunching try exiting and running the 'updt_nl.bat' file that is created.
Noisy network may also be an issue as the patcher is sensitive to packet loss - try running the pingplot routine as listed in the Networking FAQ
