I mean no offense to anyone here, but I hope every new guild isn't going to face questioning on its motives... they're sure to get enough of that once they actually start doing things  - for now I think we should just be glad that there are more guilds starting up and wish them the best of luck in their efforts, even if those efforts are towards different goals than our own :)

Quite honestly this is the only forum for us new Homins to learn the stance of guilds. If you ask in game everyone refers you to this thread. If you ask on the boards people refer you to this thread.

It's important to know who exists, how to contact them and what they are all about. Why? Mainland is not as busy as the RoS island so it's hard to see what a guild is up to early in your development.

I'm glad to hear that; it is afterall the whole reason for me maintaining the list in the first place :)

As for your post, while I was trying to work out what to make of it (with the help of a pair of very helpful trykerettes) I had a thought that listing the race and cult alignments of each guilds doesn't mean much to someone who doesn't know how those alignments affect things; your thread kinda backed that up too. So, again with the help of those trykerettes, since I've always maintained that the list is structured as it is to help new players work out which guilds they can and can't join (wrt alignment restrictions), as well as give them some idea on the RP standing, I've added a link to the patchnotes regarding the fame/citizenship patch.

A basic breakdown of it is as follows:
Guild is cult-neutral - Only players who are cult-neutral may join
Guild is cult-aligned - Only players who are cult-neutral or aligned with the same cult as the guild may join
Guild is race-neutral - Only players who are race-neutral may join
Guild is race-aligned - Only players who are race-neutral or aligned with the same race as the guild may join

EG.
If a player is Neutral/Fyros, they may only join guilds that are Neutral/Fyros, Kami/Fyros, or Karavan/Fyros
If a player is Kami/Matis, they may only join guilds that are Kami/Matis
If a player is Neutral/Neutral, they may join any guild.

While not in-game related, just as imporant is the time of day that most players play. A guild that is Euro-centric may not fit the playtime of someone who is on the West Coast of the US.

Also there are a number of guilds that who do not have links to web-pages explaining in more detail what they are about. Would be helpful even if it only a one-page recruiting link. They could even type a longer post in a forum thread and link that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Sprite, but what I read that to mean is a call to cease the demanding of some folk here that tend to try to dictate how other players should form their guilds and not about wanting players to stop providing more and better detail on what their guilds are about?

After re-reading my post I have to agree that I misunderstood what I initially quoted. It's important for guilds to promote what they think they are all about here. As Sprite said, it's not a forum to argue about stances.

I'm sure we will have plenty of time to learn about that. =)

Correct :) More/better detail is all well and good, but interrogation is not
