Some Homins just dont like to dig and without knowing how to make 100/100 damage ammo could be put of ranged as a skill for life.
Others become addicted to digging materials for ammo... I don't see that as a valid reason for leaving it out completely.
Honestly I think it was omitted because it would have made things too easy ;) . If that were of no concern, there could have been a range weapon merchant selling NPC stuff just for those who want to burn dapper...

The way i see it, there might be 4 reasons why there is no ranged on the RoS
1. As stated above, devs might be trying to fix what few people complain about in ranged...which is feasable but not likely.
2. It is excluded for the reasons of being too complicated and too harvester/ crafter oriented.
3. It is excluded for a simple reason of pickling peoples curiosity and adding another drop to subscribe for at least a month to a full account.
4. Oops we forgot to include it sorry guys our bad? (this is of course the least likely possibility)

Just my 2 cents. :)

Wondering how hard the ammo is to make... would the price someone would charge to make the ammo be paid by those that don't want to branch out into crafting be, too much?

I have put 100/100 damage ammo on the vendors several times and at the minimum prices possible to retail aswell but no-one buys it, for the amount of ammo you need to lvl you really need to dig and craft your own as a seriuos Ranger.

I'm having fun with ranged. Hit the mainland yesterday and have been grinding ranged.. Goes pretty slow as I take frequent breaks to go make more ammo heh. You can of course buy ammo, but it's much more effective to make your own, and not to mention fairly quick to do so. Just grind range xp on mobs that drop ammo materials. Currently trying to get craft and harvesting up higher so I can get better ammo as the stuff i'm using now is pretty awful... But it's xp, and of course even crap ammo that you may not want to use sells back for a good amount to fund other things.

Definately takes longer to do than other skills. If you want levels fast, go with something else.

It´s eays to make 100/100 ammo. Its made out of choice mats and this mats you can find on the multi-spots in every country. The thing that makes it really hard is that you have to buy 3 kinds of ammo for every kind of weapon in every country if you want it all.....

And Range-fight in PvP/op-fights is, if you do it right, really nice. A high ranger can be a pain in the ass. And a group of ranger can take out a full team of mages if you train it a little bit and coordinate your attack....

so long

Don't bother training ammo up in more than one civ. Any civ weapon can use any civ ammo- so just be able to make it from the terrain you plan to dig ammo mats in and you'll be set.

Also, be warned about the "bow" type ammo plans. They take more mats than the regular rifle/pistol ammo plans but yield the same amount of bullets. Only learn one of these if you want something with a few more mats to grind craft (other then actual guns.) Otherwise its not needed as it functions identical to the regular kind, and you usually would prefer more bullets with less mats ;)
