Er.. are people having problems organizing events or something...? Why does ryzom need a time zone? Everyone should know what their offset is from GMT, like EST is -5. You can always google to find out...

I sorta wish that time in Ryzom passed in real time like a lot of games though, so that it was daylight for 16 or so hours then dark for 8, and when it rained it'd rain for hours or days on end.. that'd be cool

I agree with Khyle, UTC would be the best time to announce events. And that would prevent the britains of getting GMT and BST mixed up

Id rather see Event info (short summary + ingame time) appear on one of the selectable windows "j" Tasks (Missions) would be suitable imo , just the Event Title , short summary and a countdown to the start would work for me

Aw, c´mon. Okay, a new InGame massaging system would be nice, but a coutdown to the next invasion kind of beats the point, don´t you think?

An Invasion should be a sudden and dramatic event in the History of Atys.
Not something one goes to, before getting back to bed.

I can almost hear it: "Honey I´m Home. Them damn Kitin were up at 8 o´clock, but they only had a scedule of 2 hours so we beat `em guick in like 1 1/2. So now give me my foraging gear I´ve got an appointment with a supreme source at 10."

Introducing a homogenic timetabe would surely be an advantage for those within different timezones, but where´s the Fun in knowing that you have to be Online at precisely 18h to beat some Kitin back in Tryker.
I understand the problem some of you have with not being able to participate in some events from beginning to end, but hey... we don´t want to overdo it, don´t we?

Ummmm you totaly missed the point it would only be used as an ingame version of the Event anouncments we have now -the meet at Fairhaven at 20:00 BST type of thing

The difference being it would be easy to call up by hitting "j" (not lost in Sys Info) and is more game related than using RL times

Countdown timer was for the start of the meeting not the length of the Invasion , maybe I shouldve used a Wedding Invite instead :/

It would be perfect if it was optional.
I for myself like not knowing each and everything that is coming in the near or far future of Atys. I like it the way it is, but I would prefere to have more Ingame "Word of mouth" by players. Not "Big white letters in the Sky"
But I agree that it surely would help with the timezone problem, so make it optional please

Beg to differ, if you go off GMT, or UTC more properly, there's no DayLightSaving to consider. If you know your country's difference, you're set. UTC doesn't have a daylight saving time/summertime. At my location, I'm at UTC+1, UTC+2 in the summer months, that's easy enough to remember... so if someone gives me a date at UTC, I can make my part of the conversion quick and easy - same story the other way round, I convert to UTC and all are set.

Apart from that, a working Atys Calendar in game would be great, of course!

Then anyone not in UTC still has to adjust to it or UTC+2 or what ever ... Its simple ... using my time zone as an example... GMT-5 = winter GMT-4= summer how hard can the really be to calculate? BST=GMT+1...SO if they just use that in the summer months NOTHING changes ... It would be EDT-5 of BST in summer and EST-5 of GMT in winter. its not so hard ...........

It would be a nice feautre. but theres many "better" (subjective word) things the devs could be doing with their time

Geez i made a flameless tread with something positive in it (Am i a good tryker now Souls?)
Oh well anyway just held this post and poll because i wanted to see if I was able to come up with a simple improvement where everyone would be overjoyed with .
Guess it is indeed very hard to keep everyone happy or make em agree all for developpements.And also it seems easier to disagree and come up with something better..(I am one of those *grin*)
So Devs ;Thank u all for working so hard on the game TRYING to keep everyone happy ...U really do a great job !
