The latest outpost defence upgrade - a heavy mortar or some sort of wide-angle cannon with ammunition store next to it.

Well if you cant fill the game with players you need lots of static objects that cant be interacted with -obviously
Always seems to me Nevrax have too many graphics guys (who dont like working on things like Emotes/Animes for actions) and not enough coders
The Bear head could actualy be Oras big daddy -a shrine to the King of the Yubos ?

Exactly the contrary

Graphics team is always the first to burn when a development team needs budget cuts.
Anyway, this is the entrance of the new attraction :

Yes youd think that would be the case but theres no shortage of these Dev-shots or needless things like the addition of the Racial Animes , its like the graphics team are trying to find work

Well that would be great , just dont want anymore Wind-Mills or Guard-Tower type objects that cant be interacted with and only end up causing my game performance to deteriorate even more (Curses being limited to only 512M memory)

Yes they are trying to find work out of Nevrax because they have been fired.
The very few still there are working on R² to add special content to it.
The racial animations were made a long time ago, and their maker isn't working for Nevrax anymore, so... how to say it... forget it !
