hey :)

i'm not trying to defend anything in particular just paint a bigger picture. unless you want q200 mats forever there is no choice for anyone but to venture into wastelands and underspring, where i can assure you everything is diggable at least somewhere :) afaik mats pop at the same rate regardless of where you are.. A lot of people are put off by the aggro so it can be easier to get materials there than in other pr's

and sorry for distracting from the main point of your post, which i feel a lot of sympathy for. I'll shut up now and wish you well whatever you decide to do..

Philu writes: Again you write with passion and great sadness . . . it's a shame Nevrax have completely failed to realise that in their headlong grasp for revenue and PvP.

I do feel passionately about Ryzom Philu as until the recent changes which seem as if wrought by AI software mindlessly spewing out version 5,324 of the same old formula for mmos, I regarded Ryzom as a work of creative art and vision - something which stood alone in it's many fine features. It's only recently via a survey on mmorpg.com eg that the degree to which the mmo community prefer skills to class based systems has become apparent to many dev teams or they like Ryzom would have been developing skill-based systems years back too. I have mentioned the superlative crafting above and even the digging system for all its repetiveness beats standing watching ur character collect resources as it is an active process. Social interactions are fostered by digging, crafting at stables, treks - the top design features in Ryzom exceed these and are broad and many.

Then along comes not only let's make this a carbon copy of other games, but let's crap up this great game for significant numbers of committed and long term subscribers at the same time. I feel angry too Philu as the biggest shame is it didn't have to be like this. Nevrax could have pleased us all and not lost subscriptions from any segments of the community. Would it have been difficult to think outside the pvp formula box? I think not and have done so in the last 5 minutes and here is what I came up with in that time.

Goal: Please all sectors of the community to maximize subscriber numbers

From this flows:

Need to cater for diggers, crafters, pve fighters, pvp fighers - perhaps other sectors too that don't immediately spring to mind, but all players would participate in at least one of these sectors so good place to start.

They all want new content and we are bringing in ops, so how can we cater for all? Is obvious that if they are accessible to only one group, those who play because they love one of the other 3 styles and abhor the one selected as the sole means of acquistion will be excluded. So you put 5 minutes into a constructing a survey to identify what % of ur customers want which activity to be the means of acquisition for ops and apportion the number of ops per play style preference accordingly.

Not hard to think of a means by which to contest them via the other play styles - dig offs where guilds see which can dig the most mats in 2 hours, or whose team of crafters can produce the most items in a 2 hr period, or which guild can go the most rounds against the npcs, with op mats relevant to the skills used to secure the ops. And hell, if they were short of ideas they could always have asked u folk to do their creative thinking for them :) .

That it didn't have to be like this makes me truly sad and also angry Philu. It is a terrible waste.

Sorry to see you leave Zysha. You are a class individual and will be sorely missed. It's a shame that some ppls idea of fun is ganking diggers. Is it fun to kill ppl with zero chance to lose? Why not just go kill yubos outside the stable? Same result. If you want fun seek out someone that will give you a good fight. Oh then you might lose. It's not PvP that's the problem it's ppl who have too little self esteem to take a chance on losing.Sorry for the rant but losing ppl like Zysha because of some ppl with no guts irks me.- Kilgoretrout

I hate to see you go Zysha and I wish I didn't share so many of the feelings you've expressed here. You've been a tremendous asset to Ryzom and I'll miss you if you chose to leave.

Don't leave without letting Lath and I know how to keep in touch with you, please. Maybe we will find ourselves together again.

Simply despicable :(

I hope that you had a few words with the Guild Leaders.

Have to agree with most everything you've said, Zysha; lucky to have found my own way to still enjoy playing Ryzom. But then my favourite resource nodes are my favourite largely because they are crawling with aggro. Not much of a crafter, see?

Ack, sorry to see this happen to you Zysha, and, as Carrie said, too many of those sentiments are shared by too many people, myself included (as well you know).

I'd hate to see you leave the game, but I feel like it's been a long time coming :( Do keep in touch though.. when you find a final resting place maybe we'll be there too. Needless to say, I'll be there this evening, so I'll see you at the OP.

I am not a fan of the forums but felt this was important enough to comment on. I was sad that Zysha's in-game experience led to this decision. I do want to stress that Elytheria will continue the tradition that she started at Southend of distributing cats and mats as we have done in the past. I won't get into a debate over the many issues with Ryzom, I do concur that it is the best crafting implementation I have seen.

Elytheria has always been a peaceful guild while lending support to those who share our goals of making Atys a better, more homin friendly world each day. I am available most of the time in-game and open to discuss world issues and events there.

I wish Zysha the best now and always and hope to dig and hunt with her for years to come.
