What OS are you running?
Are you logged in as administrator?
Is your hard-disk healthy?
Are you running any other apps or downloading while patching?
Is your network cable damaged?
Is your network connection clean?

that comp wont start it. it has an error starting a screen that is 1024x748 with 60color.

so i re dled it on this compa gain. reinstalled it and... still no game. i updated it and it relaunched and it asked to patch same things again

Where'd you get your download copy?

Have you tried "uninstalling" it, then blowing away the directory and any Registry keys related to SoR before attempting to reinstall again?

I'm assuming the answer to Zerlin's first two questions are Windows XP and Yes (logged in as administrator/owner)...

Wasn't mentioned, so I'll ask:

After using the unistaller, did you reboot AND delete the installation directory (typically C:\Program Files\Ryzom\) before attempting the re-install?

Also, using regedit, remove the Ryzom related tree (My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Neverax) Not much in it, but best to start clean.

Also, do you have sufficient free disk space to support the patching process? Don't know how efficient Ryzom's patcher is, but I like to make sure I have enough space to hold a second full copy of the executables and DLLs, plus 10-times the size of the patch files (assuming they are compressed).
(Edited to correct size of patch file space)
