... and reappeared at the Kami Temple in Pyr.

Momentarily disoriented by the teleport, Samar didn't realize the enthusiastic young NightBlade was there until he was already engulfed in the younger Fyros' embrace.

"SAM! Where've you been buddy? You heard Rashan disappeared with all the Guild's Dapper? I bet he had something to do with this fire...Seen him around anywhere?"

Samar staggered slightly as NB released him from the embrace. "Heard the rumors, that's why I'm here. I thought I'd check in with the Guild, see what was going on." Obviously NB doesn't know any more than I do, Samar mused. Noticing that NB had closed his eyes while trying to contact his dodgy cohort, Samar turned and ducked down Arispotle Aveneu, heading for his apartment on Lower Piros Street.

The smell of smoke and ash, the ashy dust being kicked up by his boots, all evidence that indeed, Something had caused a major fire. The stuccoed adobe walls lining Arispotle Avenue showed no signs of fire, but there was no way to tell from here what might have happened inside these walls.

Moving around one of the many City Guard patrols, Samar emerged into Coriolis Circle and paused a moment, automatically feeling for the map in his waistband...

Gone! That rogue NB must have lifted it while he was "hugging" me! Well, nothing to do for it now, I'll get it back later.

Samar continued deeper into the city on his way to his apartment...

Zahan's luck seemed to be strangely absent, as the small hoard of zerx scuttled rapidly behind him, closing with every passing second. Timari, arana and lumpers scattered before the fleeing zorai, some drawing the attention of the crazed zerx.

Finally as they closed to within spitting distance a flash of light flew from one of the canyon walls, hitting a zerx squarely and sending it spinning away. Shooting a relieved glance to one of the many concealed tunnels Zahan spotted a petite red-headed fyros woman, amps already blazing with her second attack. Blowing a heartfelt kiss to his beloved, Zahan headed towards her as the remaining zerx decided they weren't really _that_ interested anyway.

"No time to talk love, Rashan's made a dash with the Guild funds, and if we want a cut we need to recover it first!"

Nillian blinked in surprise then shruged slightly and dashed off after the tall zorai. Finally the pair arrived at the spot, crouching behind a large boulder, the slight fyros was easily concealed, though Zahan's trademark ugly green helmet stuck out over the top. Contact was quickly established with the industrious Nightblade, and a plan was quickly formulated.

Stampede the herbivores through the rapidly developing confrontation with a few well placed bomb spells, Nightblade could hook the bag of loot on his pike and the three could escape before the dust settled. Genius! It couldnt fail!

Pulling on his amps and shrugging off his heavy armour, Zahan prepared to cast. As the ball of light formed between his palms a strong hand gripped the back of his shirt and yanked hard, choking off the incantation.

Nillian waved her finger down at Zahan, and turned to watch the scene.

" We may not have to do a thing, Zahan. Let's just watch how this pans out, save getting ourselves into needless trouble. "

Nillian ducked behind the rock once again, and watched intently.

" What do you think they're talking about? " signalled Nightblade, his eyes wide as the moon. Zahan made some kind of hand gestures back and they both giggled, but Nillian slapped Zahan on the back of the head,

" Shh! I'm trying to listen..."

She leaned over, desperately eager to hear what was being said by her boss to her mentor. Why hasn't Kostika slapped him yet? Why are they just staying there, shouldn't she be bringing him back to the Guild Hall in front of us, to formally reprimand him for stealing? Thoughts of a similar ilk were rushing through her mind, confusing her even more than she already was.

She sighed, put her arms around Zahan and continued to watch the goings on....

NB signaled down to Z. "What do you think they're talking about? "

What NB saw next astounded him. He caught something out of the corner of his eye. What was going on down there!?

suddenly NB screamed out in pain, a Zerx just spit on him! Anger welled up within him at this sudden attack and NBs eyes turned from a pale red to a fiery orange as he leaped towards the charging zerx. A quick slash with his pike and activating the hidden power of the desert heat within him, a blast of flames scorched the Zerx, who had nowhere to hide in this heat. the poor critter was well done before it knew it.

"That was a close one..." NB began the incantation that would heal his wounds "Theres another gift of the gods gone for tonite.." NB wasnt liking this one bit, he was running out of resources and he still couldnt make out what was going on in the valley before him. turning his attention back, he suddenly realized something was wrong...

"Whats going _ON!?_" NB'was stunned at what had happend next. There was no pain as he hit the floor. NB's world went black

Giving Anissa a tight smile she says, "Thank you Anissa. I'll take that."

Taking the bag from Anissa she turns back to Rashan awaiting his response.

Dhrum arrived in Pyr well after the time of the crime, he was late as usual. The city was not only afire with flames but also with far fetched stories of dastedly deeds done to the Samsara.

Making his way through Pyr avoiding pieces of smoldering building he approached the Guild Hall. The stories were getting far fetched, someone had turned traitor and emptied the Samsara treasury and guild members had been seen running off in all directions.

Dhrum was not one to go chasing shadows, he went carefully into the guild hall to take a look at the scene of the crime, the story of the dapper was true, the treasury just had a few dappers scattered in the corners. This made the thief either a high officer or someone very good with locks, and they would have to have been good as the Lady Kostika did not stint on Guild security. Running possible names through his head..... well there is the Dynamic Duo, but they would not be stupid enough to steal from the boss, at least not directly. Dhrum may not be the sharpest thorn in the desert but with the stories on the streets and the evidence before him.... It must have been Rashan.

Now another thing began to worry Dhrum, that much dapper and one man with a sack..... There was no way Rashan could have left Pyr with it all, he must have stashed some close....

Dhrum sat down on the guild hall floor, closed his eyes and tried to put him self in the position of a man stupid enough to rob the Lady Kostika blind and expect to get away with it, maybe Dhrum could recover some of the dappers and should some accidentally make its way into his appartment then no one would be the wiser.

The sun was high in the air at that particular angle where there is no shadow in the Scorched Corridor. A herd of timari grazed with their cooling fins fully extended to radiate the heat away from their bodies. Nearby, tyrancha and cuttler slept, saving their energy for later when their prey would be fat and tired.

In the coolness of the cave, Rashan looked frustrated, perhaps for the first time. He was trying to make a clean getaway and thought most people would be preoccupied with the auction. The situation was slightly uncomfortable: a sack full of stolen dapper, the victim of the crime and an old friend and employer. If he didn't think fast he'd find it very difficult to find work when he got bored of retirement. The two women stood with their hands on their hips wanting answers, the two women who just happened to be the right height...

There was a gleam in Rashan's eye just before he adopted a more apologetic expression.

"I'd heard a rumour that with enough dapper you could buy your way in to the oasis", he convincingly lied.
Kostika was not impressed, "you didn't happen to be told this by Apoeus Thecops in Dyron bar? That homin is a small-time crook, I'm surprised he's not here to relieve you of it."
"You're slipping Raslam", Anissa added.
"You're right and that's why I wanted a break in the oasis. I need to regain my strength, focus my thoughts. Refine my greed...", he trailed off hoping noone heard that last one.

Looking pointedly up at a ledge, he continued "if you two can give me a boost up there, I can make my way round, over the blocked passageway. Keep the dapper and we can forget it ever happened."
"I WILL keep the dapper, but maybe it's best to be rid of you for a while. I expect a full report on the oasis when you're done there."
"Do you think we can trust him Kos?"

Rashan tried a smile that would melt even a supernode-camper's heart, that would cause an outpost drill to produce crystals of love and understanding. He didn't get it quite right and the only result was his half-dead mektoub scampered off in fright into the waiting jaws of a sleepy varinx.

"Get out of my sight. Come on Anissa, let's push him over the wall where he can't harm anyone with that grin. Then we can spend some of this swag for our trouble, before depositing what's left in my guild hall."

After much struggling, cursing and a few hands and feet placed in uncomfortable places, he was finally up. It took both of the strong homin women standing on each others shoulders and Rashan stretching just to grab a tiny handhold which crumbled after he was safe. Exhausted, they all paused for a while.

"I hope they have spare boots in here", Rashan cheekily called from the top of the wall of boulders.
"Boots? Why? Oh no, you didn't...", Kostika clicked and wrenched open the bag. Inside were hundreds of pairs of heavy boots, padded with fresh wax flakes.
"I hid the dapper as a little keepsake for my return, to help me get back on my... feet", he smirked.

One of the boots whistled through the air, striking him squarely on the head. As he toppled over the edge on to the soft oasis sand he laughed all the way.

The End. No really :)

*sigh* "Well Anissa at least we know where he is and he won't be getting out." Turning to Anissa she smiles a little as she hefts the bag. "I have explored that Oasis myself. There is shelter and water, but there is no way out other than through these bandits, and we already saw how wel he handled them"

Smilingly a little at Anissa she says, "Speaking of which, we should get a move on before they come back."

With the bag over her shoulder she travels through the tunnels and comes out in a safe part of the corridor.

"I hope we can keep this to ourselves Ani. I wouldn't want everyone knowing jsut where Rashan is until I can sort this mess out and check little bodoc butt's hiding places for the dappers."

Pulling out a pact for Dyron and breaking it she waves to Anissa, "Be safe."

As the Nexus News Offices started billowing smoke, a young tryker hurried through the streets of Pyr, casting a worried glance over one shoulder.

Seeing no sign of the Matis Boarding School truancy officers, or their tracking-raguses, Fueyuun relaxed slightly. A crowd of Fyros fleeing the burning building span him around, and he ended up unceremoniously dumped on his rear.

Blinking slightly at the now raging fire, and the slowly collapsing sing on the front he gasped in horror. The Nexus News complex was burning to the ground!

"One day I'll be the worlds greatest hero..."

The slight Tryker lad dashed through the legs of the taller Fyros citizens, covering his mouth with his sleeve he frantically dashed to an office he had seen before... the fire was at it's peak here, though it had yet to light the heavy safe door. No sign of her, he looked around wildly, almost neglecting to pocket the odd few dapper scattered about the floor. A banging noise intruded past the sounds of the fire, and it drew his attention to the heavy motega door of the room-sized safe.

"... or the worlds greatest thief!"

Taking out the lockpicks he had kept carefully hidden from parents and teaching staff alike he set into the safe with gusto, the slight clicks of it's mechanism easily read. The fire was now totally out of control, but a lucky breeze fanned the flames away from him, and finally the safe popped open...

"I just haven't decided which yet... hey mom!"

------
Fueyuun, son of Zespiole and Fuchuan. Possibly the greatest thief in the world. Just dont tell his mom please!
