It's always good to get some fight levels to increase your health reserve. The fight levels come much quicker than the magic levels. Just go to the vendor and buy a sword or a dagger or something and start beating stuff to death with it.

A good idea is when you are comfortable with the interface. Beyond that, if you feel safeish on the island, move on.

If you are trying to decide whether the game is for you or not before the trial ends, leave the island sooner, just expect a bit of trouble from the animals on the mainland.

A good example of this is portrayed in this comic (more in this thread).

Thanks for the input raven (and everyone), I guess i just like peopel to chat too, and liek to help out more hehe.

As for when to leave and the level 2 mobs killing you note:

At magic 10 you can pick up level 2 acid, this will allow you to take on slightly higher mobs, but you will require a better set of Magical Amplifiers

As stated before, fight is the easyest to level to start, and i would recomend going ahead and getting to 20 first to get all the HP upgrades

Harvesting is much easyer to level on the mainland as you can get higher mats (Max is Q20 o nthe island, minimum is Q50 on mainland)

Crafting may be easyer on the island if you by mats, and you can noramly sell them a little higher to make your money back.

I recomend at least 21 in fight and magic so that you can venture a little bit further out of the main town, dont worry so much about what levels you are in harvest and craft.

Also as stated by Noinossalg, If your still in the trial, dont judge the game by the newb island

(p.s sorry for my spelling, as always)

Where does one obtain a better set of amplifiers? I'm still on the island for the time being, is it possible to get them there?

Only if someone makes them there. Check the 2 Hand Weapon Merchants, there may be some there.

Heya Crousetx

I have a simple answer for your question: It depends

Now in more detail:
You can only purchase higher quality amplifiers, if there is crafter around that builds amplifiers and offers them for purchase at the trader.
Only if a crafter is around, that sells stuff to the traders, you will be able to buy npc items too, with a few exceptions. I thing light armor and daggers are always available from npcs.

b.) there's still plenty of crafting I need to do before I could make items even close in stats to the ones NPC vendors are selling (Craft ~7?)
Do I guess it right, if I say you are Tryker?

Normally the items you craft should be better than the ones provided by the npcs, when you start to use choice materials. These you have to harvest, as quartered mats of the general creatures are basic or fine quality only.

I was just going to post something like this. I'm fine there and I like it, but I'm the kinda gamer that keeps working at something till I get but a lot of people don't do things that way and I can understand how the island could push people away.

agreed
Have them start in their main cities. they'd be awe struck their first couple of minutes playing, but with some helpful tips and guides i'm sure they'd be able to get of to just an easy start as if they were on starter island.
