Voted "provides opportunities".

OK, even if you do ignore the crystals how bout: new Craft plans. Consumables. PvE combat when first taking the OP from bandits. These are all things non-PvPers may be interested in.

The RP implications of owning an OP, its a camp outside a city where your guild can meet and be safe. Heck, Evolution showed some great stuff with their event :)

And of course there are those 2 "building sites" that haven't been finished yet...

I voted "no, ryzom feels different, but i can tolorate it"

First is to say, that it makes sense to have PvP to drive the story.

Second, it made me loose too many friends.

Third it showed me, how bad some people can be. The consequence is, that the number of people I freely team with is reduced to less than 30% of the server population. Prior to episode two it was more than 95%.

Indeed Trini, PvP can highlight the worst behaviour in a community. I've seen the evidence with RF Online, which is a PvP-driven game. It actually turns the community on it's head, and the majority are sadly idiots with little respect for others. There are still good players, but the ratio is very different.

I think if any community can avoid turning to complete mush because of PvP, it's Ryzom's :) I've been keeping up while I've been away, and I know the mood has has lowered and people are/have been unhappy - out of the current crop of MMOs, I think Ryzom has the best chance of turning PvP around :)

Mainly because I am not a big PvP player, I don't mind it but its not the sole reason I log into the game. On the other hand I have the maturity to understand why others in the game would like a PvP element.

They way I generally look at it is that I can log into the game and still do today what I did 6 months ago. OK I have a few more choices now that would enable me to do more if I wanted and thats my choice.

My gameplay today is unaffected pretty much by the PvP element so I am happy and if I want to join in I can........

Ello Peeps,

I second what Snake said, i don't wear tag, but totally Love OP pvp.

I went for the last option: PvP has ruined my game, although I might should have went for the second last.

I still do OP battles, so I guess I am not all innocent my self. Anyhow, PvP has changed my game alot, in a bad way.

i'm very mixed about this issue.

since PvP started and i had to openly declare my neutrality - and i've been put down too many times b/c of it, too many ppl have said "i'm a neutral and i'm not allowed to have a say in ANYthing PvP" and this ruined my game for a while until a few ppl helped turn it around for me.

personally - i think the PvP driven story makes complete sense - wat with our history and all. we should be fighting and in-fact i think our fame should be much more affecting with how ppl deal with us. if a civ doesnt like us - we should really not be tolerated. ...then again i'm going off the point..

so yea - i put "no, but can tolerate it" and hope that in the coming months PvP will be workd on some more.

Voted in the provides opportunities category.

I think some element of PvP is essential to the storyline but am with Snake in the comment that if you did not have the choice to go about your daily bussiness without PvP involvement I would be seriously pissed off.

PvP is abit linear atm would like the options of Civ or guild PvP aswell although this again would have to be purely consentual.

Crystals have been mentioned in this thread so just gonna put my 2 dapper in on them which is although providing an incentive for OP contest which is debatably a good thing, they can put too much of a gap between the haves and the have nots and should be taken out of the game.

Again, pretty much what Snake said. I'm enjoying the OP and Tag PvP thats in Ryzom currently. I also enjoy having the option not to take part... should that change, well that'll be when I start to think about looking for another game to call home. :)
