And if you re-read what I said. I was annoyed with getting ooc replies to my IC comments. Not that there were OOC comments in people's posts.

Keeping folks IC in a thread is like herding cats, we knew ahead of time that we'd get many folks posting that were off topic and we sure had our share.

Look again at the thread at folks that so miss the point they ask how an NPC can be killed. The "act" was going to happen because we were tired of griefing. We added a little flavor to it and only a handful truly got it and stayed IC. Can you grief when you choose to wear your tag... not really... only be annoyed. We don't intend to be annoyed anymore and let the troublemakers craft in peace only to have them kill everyone around when they were done. There is no honor in these sleezy tactics, so we are going to stop it.

Adding a storyline was something long overdue and some totally missed it... thus you have to put "OOC" messages in there.

All I can conclude from a thread like this is that we have 2 choices in this game: Either be a top-notch roleplayer whose RP has almost no impact on real in-game issues or don't do any RP at all. If some minor OOC gets mixed in, everyone else's game is ruined and people get slammed.

Just a thought, Uma. If you'd started this thead as constructive criticism instead of a rant about how the game is ruined for you by something as minor as OOC comments and you maybe didn't use the subject line to accuse people of "poisoning the Saga forum", maybe you'd have actually provoked a productive conversation.

As it is, you just created even more poison of your own.

For my part, I apologize for any mixed OOC/IC, but it was just done with the intent to clarify a point or make sure there was no misunderstanding. It was not done with any intent of poisoning anything. For example, I said (in response to Kostika's question about condemning all members of a faction):

I was talking about lines like these. Maybe if you concentrate on the pieces inbetween you can arrive at a different meaning. I'm sure Uma can clarify, but to me it looks like a simple enough request to not mention OOC stuff, maybe because I have the same request. TBH I could tolerate DT's original OOC clarification it's just every other post responding on two levels destroyed the thread.

There's no difference between IC and OOC IMHO - it's all posted by the person making the post.

Only problem I have with any of the content of the shield thread is I consider it to be a BS excuse to gank people. Just admit you want to gank all kami flagged people in Yrkanis and be done with it.

The pro-PvPers advocate ganking flagged foragers and then complain when they fight back with similarly underhand tactics?

This kind of thread is exactly why I try to avoid the main forums as much as possible (curses got sucked in again!). This 'great' community aint so great any more. Normally Spriteh your posts are helpful or constructive or well thought out; even when I don't agree with your argument. But you have let yourself down in this thread IMHO. That's a sad symptom of what is happening to the community.

@Oldmess :I quoted vguerin because he is the thread starter. If u start a thread that express 2 very differents ideas, just to be clear :

- the first idea "IC", nice, *applause* DT, i want more.
- the second idea totally OOC

Then people want to react to both idea and the thread ends up being a mess of mixed IC/OOC and next posters cannot be blamed.

So, is it so hard to start 2 differents threads ? that's the only thing i'm asking for here, pretty please, if u write an IC thread that u want to degenerate into OOC, post 2 threads, one in the saga forum and one in the general forum with a link.

And oldmess, as i said in my first post, it ofc do not apply to descriptive or informative OOC statement.

Then have this: It's all frickin in character, there is no arguing. DT the character is sick of it, and many other characters are sick of it.

So, IN CHARACTER, if you come in to Yrkanis with a flag bearing your Kami faction allegiance expect to be DEAD. You will then have it explained to you how not to be dead in Yrkanis.

Our hard working crafters and resting fighters and foragers require these measures to be fully effective at their duties to their faction, their civilization, their guild, their family, and unto themselves.

This complaint is NOT about the actions people in yrkanis are going to be taking, but about peoples actions in that thread. The rp is good, but having every other post say (ooc: this is what I really think) is not good.

There are places for this, please use them.

(I'm not saying you can never ooc in the saga, but think about why you are doing it and if it would be worth starting an ooc discussion in another place).

RPing a bit and staying IC takes more than sitting in a bar IG and saying your drinking stinga rum, though that is a form of RP. We got critics with 2 posts to their credit attempting to make the rules for the forums.

There is a game related RP event going on, it wont be simulated and there is an RP reason (It sounds better then sayng we got tired of the teen aged gankers) to go along with the plan. Clearly some needed additional instructions and thats what they got in "OOC".

Attend the memorial service for Viccia this weekend, it's going to be make believe which some of you seem to think matters more than whats really happening IG.
