Thanks vguerin, I'm on Pyr now and have met a few people briefly, not only did I have to log out but my computer froze on our way back to Pyr grrr.. But my first impression of the general public is awesome, people are well spoken (as much as you can be online) and very nice. Atys is just beautiful, and big!
It's exciting to start this adventure, now I have to decide wether I'll wander off to Fairhaven or stay in Pyr.... Humm Karavan or Kami... Seems like the Kamis are lacking in people, but then again I'm not on the competitive side, is there a sitting on the fence option?

Absolutely.
Neutrality can be very interesting and fun if you're into roleplaying.

Heh, thought I'd resurect my own hello thread..
Hello again! Well I left Ryzom for a bit after finding life hard on Pyr, and my computer specs were driving me insane, I had constant freezes and serious lag. But I've got a new machine now and so far there's been next to no lag and I have the graphics pretty much maxed and it's so gorgeous!
I'm playing a Matis this time, probably neutral, I'm loving the changes to the starting Island, and what's all this about free play? I renewed my subscription because I'd like to live on the mainland eventually, but was noticing people were asking if it's worth to ever leave the Island? This has me somewhat preocupied, will some people never leave and increase the population on the mainland? What are your thoughts on this one?
If there's a thread on this already, I'll go find it!! And again, hi homins!

Welcome back!
I had considered staying on the trial island for a while, but decided that I would rather dive into the mainland and check out how the big kids live.
I'm also Matis, so if you see me running by, say hello!

There's a Canadian Tryker community?
Goes to show what I learn from spending all my time swimming

I don't think that is a worry. It doesn't take long before you outlevel the content on the island. Anyone with any intention of staying with the game will move on to the mainland, unless maybe they enjoy being uber-newbie on the island
.

Uber-Newbie rofl, I like it
Yes a Canadian Tryker community, now I'm wondering if there's a Canadian Matis community or the like, not that I'm looking for a guild yet, I'll wait til I'm uber-newb ^.^

Welcome to Atys!!
I too, am a FFXI refugee. I sort of got a bit burnt out over the fact that the mission for rank 5 took well over eight hours. That's a work shift!!
I think you will find the community here is far and above the norm. I have played many an MMORPG starting with the original Everquest. Not only is the community here the best I have ever encountered, but I think you will find that the customer service is second to none.
I have already subscribed to the game, but am still on the newbie island. I know I will be leaving soon, but it is fun to be of help and service to the newcomers as they show. I am also a Matis, and will miss a lot of my new friends here on the island. Most of the friends I have made are Fyros and they will go to Pyr while I will go to Yrkanis. At the moment, I am gravitating towards moving to the Tryker lands, but I will have to see what the mainland holds for me.
If you need any help while on the island, feel free to give me a tell. I am usually running around ressing people or helping out with some of the more harder missions.
See you around hopefully!!

Yes FFXI is much fun, but in some ways they go too far imo. Sad thing as I'm a huge FF fan, I have all their console games starting from FF7.. But I can't finish those FFXI missions as they are too long *cries*
Oh well, thanks for the welcome!! Maybe see you and Reayen! I was also thinking of Fairhaven as a home, but I might just stay in Yrk (?). *shrug* I'll see when I get there I guess.
