I don't believe this to be wholly true, I think it makes the Power Levelers with access Power Level faster. This truely only burns them out and gets them out of the game faster.

I know many people who watch the crystals go right on past and don't even use them while have full access to them. It is about what you are after in the game. Some want to be uber, some want to play...

Some people can't live without them. Some people (even with full access) don't really care to live with them.

IMO: They are nice to get a level or two now and then. I think to even it out, you should be able to earn faction and race honour points. And through careful "farming" of honour points if that is what you like, you would be able to trade them for crystals or items.

I guess the people voting to remove them, are those with the most lvl 250 skills...

Some days I feel a lot of sympathy for the devs. They really can't win for losing. If they gave us a reward in the OP's that sucked, we'd all whine about that. If they give us something that's really useful (I love the cats cause I can't play the number of hours many of you do), then we cry about how unfair they are.

So true, and i do like the other rewards availble, i just really hate exp crystals but im only one person and prolly the only one.

I wish the Order of the Dragonblades was better able to improve/solve that situation. But, one, we're limited to q50 crystals and on rare occasions we have a spare q100, and two we can't be distributing everywhere all the time. Lately I've been trying to spread distribution through all four lands, but usually only one land per day, either because I have somewhere else to be, or we run out of crystals. So there's inevitably people who miss every opportunity to get crystals from us and aren't aware we're giving them out.

I don't think powerlevelling is too bad in and of itself. It's how you handle it. If you level fast but you don't make it your be-all and end-all of your game experience, if you recognise the other things there are to do rather than see nothing but grinding and get bored, then it's alright.

Exp Crystals as a limited reward (didnt even cover the "lost" exp) in the Old Lands Event was a good thing , as a steady stream from an Outpost its bad (imo) and will only lead to ppl maxing out quicker and moving onto another game.

I have been offered Crystals for free by both the Kami (on my Main char) and the Karavan (BM on my Tryker Alt) *EDIT and Order of the DragonBlades to all my chars if theyve been passing Greenvale lol*, I refused both as I feel they would only detract from the game if not earnt (I did assist BM to get their OP)

XP Crystals as a Limited Reward -Great
XP Crystals as an everyday/easy boost -Bad

Outposts do need a proper reward tho so until they come up with a better idea the Crystals should stay (maybe adjust the balance of Crystal/Outpost mat production ? )

Op rewards are static....there are only so many that are produced.
In a large guild there is a shortage..plain and simple...even in a med guild there needs to be some kind of order. the point is there are 14 stacks of cp catz produced a day....if you are a small guild, then WOOT everyone has plenty...if you are a large or med guild....then I'm sorry, you will have to wait your turn...that seems to me to help bring balance.if your large enough to have them, you may have to wait....

Oh btw....PF is NOT large...we just are dedicated

The point being made is there is a CONSTANT flow of them, yes you had to work to gain the outpost (a whole 2 hours of work) and now you have a relate infinate supply, the point pete was making was spot on, well explained mate.

I wouldn't miss them if they were gone. I only use them for a couple things, but I know others who use them for everything. To each his own.

But I think Pete hit the nail on the head.

I think that too many stacks are produced a day, but that's jsut me. I spend most of my time giving them away or trading them. More Mats would be a nice option. Or the option for a differant drill that produces less crystals and more mats (like there is for the flower/mat combo).

(as a side note for the record. I have no lvl 250 skills)

Actually no...

Believe it or not (and this will surprise even some of my friends and Guildies who know what a crystal addict I am), I think they are a poor addition in general... very unbalancing allowing people to powerlevel without getting to know the game beyond their basic hunt/dig spots.

Personally I think Q50 crystals in small quantities are great, (get those newbies a bonus!) but in general they have a bad effect on the game in general. OPs would be much less hotly contested, more for RP reasons, if Crystals werent so valuable and powerful.

Why do I use em so much you ask? Well, since they are a part of the game I will use them. I will take whatever advantage I can to help my friends.

*shrugs* Take em out I say. Love the OP mats btw, keep production low and exclusive, they are no where near as unbalancing as the crystals that get constantly churned out by every OP on Atys, the consumables are fun and very minor compared to either of the above, sure you get a load of them building up, but I like em cos they dont make such a huge difference.

*edit: oops went off on a tangent about the perils of crystal addiction! I actually missed saying I have no 250 skills at the moment.
