I think we all do it that way ;)
I hardly know anybody who does crafting from his/her appartment

i do! but with my full packers out side - then i run in to apt and grab a bag full of a mat - grind it - run back in - purely because i prefer to grind lots and lots of mats all at once. so i fill up my apartment and my 3 meks before i bother doing ne crafting at all.

I surely miss having a house, decorating it and invite friends.

Still I prefer the instantiated areas as houses because I remember just too well huge areas littered by tens of uninhabbited houses in SWG, I remember the perfect oasis on Tatooine completely ruined by people jamming there ugliest houses in the game and not even caring to leave that much space among them as to leave the landscape to beath, I remember only too well the kilometers around Coronet and Theed completely covered with houses that compromised all the work of graphical artists when they designed those areas, same as beautiful beaches (at the realease of the game) ruined by stacks of shops almost one on top of the other.

Certainly do hope for furniture and decorations, for the possiblity to invite friends, and even more important to community spaces to which the whole guild can contribute. This last feature is maybe the most important one imho. We get addicted to the games we like, no doubt, but we are territorial animals, and the connection to a palce we shared with friends, and more than that, we changed according to our group taste and fantasy, can become incredibly strong and create the real sensation of a home, an achievement we can be proud of.

Hope to see it in Ryzom too someday, but since then, maybe it's a good idea to think at it as a business problem, and a database one, ultimately as a cash flow one... so bring your friends with you, show them the space, and its possibilities, make them have an open mind and enjoy what is given now and here... which is not little :)

Well, they do housing somewhat better in EQ2. It's instanced and you still have the option of others entering and you can decorate!

The SWG idea of dropping your house where you want was nice at first, but it did get out of hand. The laziness of people amazes me. In SWG they don't even take the time to stop and store their vehicles, they just run full-blast into the entrance of a building and it will force you off and leave the vehicle stuck in the door. After a while, you'll have a pile of vehicles sitting their smoking etc.. not pretty!

I think instancing is the way to go. Either that, or have set areas which are all instanced but allow you to pick an empty lot and put your house down with the correct spacing orientation etc.. You have to really limit people otherwise they'll do what they want.

I'm really looking forward to the R2 expansion. I think this will allow us to make some cool content and also give us a place to have our own "homestead" or whever that others could visit. I know I plan on paying the extra fee to have that ability.

Looks great!
