Well....currently at level 21 and dont really like it, the descriptions of the skills aren't very useful/helpful when purchasing them, so I figure I have a few useless (to me at the moment anyway), skills, that I should have left and got others instead.
I suppose when I get a few more credits, I will be able to use stuff more effectively.
EG. I got 50m prospect and the information generated when used is a PITA to follow. But I'm probably not using it correctly.
I have been told that if I get Careplan 3 (I think?), I can CP for a level 250 forager, so I wouldn't mind levelling it that far, to be of some use in Crunch Digs. At what level would I get that skill please?
Thanks for the help so far

Hello,
I believe you get the first of two tier 3 CP stanzas at 75, and the second at 90ish. (Please note: the tier 3 stanzas take an awful lot of focus. I have had to wear a full focus jewelry set [+50 focus per item] to be able to CP for a high level harvester using harmful stanzas.)
As a newbie, I believe the first 75-100 levels of harvesting are the hardest (for new players). You're still new to the game and you don't know the value of each prospection and extraction skill available to you. It takes 75-100 levels to "catch up" and have everything (nominally) "useful". By 100 you no longer are missing the stanzas you "would have bought had you known better" many levels ago.
Best regards,

Even with the CP 1 stanzas (40 points cost and you can get at your level), you can help out some and get XP for doing so. Otherwise, ignore the frills for now and work up to choice prospecting, best rate, speed and quality you can manage (and have at least one gentle, better two). If you get the two CP 1 stanzas, you can put them on a minimal-cost hotkey for when your source gets dangerously low, then switch back to extraction, for when you're solo.

Firstly, I have so many spare SP in magic its ridiculous, so you dont miss out on anything by buying Forage using those.
The first careplans, together, still cost less focus than the first extraction counterpart, which itself consumes less focus than you regenerate as you dig.... we are talking FREE here, no need to carry focus gear - just your pick, and you can help your guildies and get xp too. So learn Careplanning, and after you have made some levels from that, then start worrying about digging for yourself.
As for finding stuff to dig... look for the blue dots on your radar, if they have green dots nearby, its probably worth having a prospect. In other words, make use of the knowledge of other Homins. No need to re-invent the wheel every time you want to make a trip. And if you find something you like, landmark it.

Now thats a good idea, wouldn't have thought of that, I would have thought that other homins there, would mean there would be less resources.
Thanks again

Pairing up with another harvester is your best bet. Don't worry about your CP, just be sure you use one and you'll get XP. This will work with any type of mats and benefit both diggers. Even a level one CP will net you full XP, even if the digger has to self CP he has a mule and is helping at the same time.
Later when you have levels and the right skills you can be a more effective CPer, at first your helping just by leveling your skills.

LMAO!!!!
Thanks for the guide, that will suit my needs perfectly

if you mean tracking ("you are 30m from source" message), then i always moving north/south/east/west (and not north-west for example). very easy that way.
Check
Ryzom Wiki for more info on tracking (and other stuff).

A 2/2 careplan will be comfortable for any level of forager that you care for. The bars will drop very low (depending on source mode) but will not blow up or deplete, except on the very odd rare occasion. This hardly uses any focus at all. I have been using this plan for many months now with a full aggresive dig stanza, harmful speed 5, harmful rate 6, harmful ql (up to) 250, terrain spec. Speed 6 is just unusable, even a maxed cp cant cater for it.
