I'm pretty sure that unique mobs do drop really high quality mats (or other nice prizes). They just don't do it every time. I'm not sure if this was all the time or only during invasions.

I'm very glad that those suckling Yubos dont drop even q1 2-handed swords as I too find that really dumb in other games. I think that the cutthroat homins should drop some items instead of dappers though. 'Tis annoying to be zapped by some Zora with an electric/fire ray gun only to kill him and not be able to use it yourself.

Part of the rational (besides convienance) for not having item drops might be that technology is supposed to have regressed and so its really only the Homins who have any items of much use.

Fyros Land a beastie named Goaketh.

Hate to say it but there is already camped Mobs in this game.

Is amber a harvested resource? Does that remove the hunter from the picture?

I'm not saying the current system is bad. All I'm saying is that the system doesn't remove the camping for *phat lewt* syndrome from the game.

Amber is a harvested resource, but Monster Parts like eyes can replace it as an ingredient for jewelry. However all I have ever seen monsters drop is up to fine quality stuff. If there are choice and better I have not seen it from the normal monsters. If only unique or special boss mobs drop it, its going to be a big camping problem.

When I kill any Border Blights etc that are using pistols etc to kil me, would be nice to pick up those weapons and ammo. Not a default 100 dappers.

I am a seasoned gamer... many online games under my belt.

The loot/crafter debate is the same for all games with crafting. My experience has been that no-loot games (i.e. usable loot) do not attract enough people to be very succesfull.

Sure, the hardcore crafters will be happy, but not enough mainstream players will be. Just an ovservation. I like the game, but I know what to expect. You will see many posts over the next months saying that the lack of loot is what caused them to leave... you won't see posts saying the no-loot feature is what brought them to the game...

It was my understanding that npcs did drop loot..Least the humaniod ones. I don't think the drop rates were high but i know there was a loot instead of quarter feature.

Which kinda makes sense, since why would a kipee have a sword? less of course it was stuck in hiw throat after his last Tryker meal or something.

If you take the creature quartering to its logical conclusion with any hostile NPC's, then you should in theory, be able to take their clothing/armour, their weapon, and their ammo. Even pry out their gold teeth, if the needs arises.

Looting weapons and ammo is a very important part of any battle of any sort. :)
