Clearly the Yubos took it. It was an act of self-preservation, really. Now one of the Yubo thieves is at a party with the notebook, telling stories of a brave and thrilling capture of the notebook in an attempt to get that cute, single Yubo to go home with him.

Bummer, thats exactly the reason why we need an ingame note pad of some sorts, sent a suggestion about it awhile back.
Guess in the meanitme u can ingame email yourself=/

Detachment is the key.
You dont need the book, if the book disliked your company so much it walked away, let is be gone.
In fact, the more you ignore it, the more it will try to come back and you will find it where you last left it (in your backpack where you stuffed it so you could do some reading while commuting in train, normally you go by car but the train was a good opportunity to catch up on some reading

Buy a new book and start writing in it. The old book will get jealous and return, happens all the time when I loose something.
