I guess the Samsara wouldn't choose the word "Neutral" to describe themselves, it is a word assigned by Nevrax, as is "Kami" and "Karavan".

This is beautifully parodied in Alice Through the Looking Glass, chapter 3 and the conversation with the Gnat.

We would fight to defend them of course. But what would constitute "legitimate" faction grounds? Please give an example.

If that guild is under attack, then we would defend them. But the alliance does not require it's members to assist in attacks.

Being neutral just means we arn't willing to sign up to either factions' entire agenda. It could mean we're Trytonist, or pacifist, or an atheist, or simply undecided. But it doesn't mean we can't judge at the Kami/Karavan conflict on it's merits and provide assistance to the more deserving side.

So? How would the Samsara choose to describe themselves?

OOC:
How could a decidedly RP guild choose to take a non-RP reasoning for an alliance?

The 'Neutral' faction essentially follow Tryton do they not? Or at least lean towards his teachings since they choose neither side as he does. Tryton himself advocated working for both sides during EP2.

So there's your answer. :D

Personally faction and civilisation-wise I am Kami/Fyros (due to game mechanics as much as anything else). However, I am a pacifist and a healer, I have never (nor will I) killed another homin. Does that make me morally neutral? :)

You seek a peaceful solution to all situations but, if you are faced with an agressor who will not listen to a peaceful option, you DEFEND what is yours with force.*

* Before you say that doesn't fit with my pacifist stance - every side needs its healers. If forced I will take part in PvP as a healer, nothing more. :)

IC: We are a guild of many views and many stand points. When you speak of faction we have none because we agree that we are of many an opinion.

OOC: Huh? Please explain cause that question doesn't make sense to me.

Not sure I follow you on that one, care to elaborate?

If that would be the case then all Karavan guilds are basically breaking one of their commandments when they recruit new arrivals from the refugee islands since those are all faction neutral. So I' d say that' s a pretty big misconception.

The OP battle at Berello Gorge, is a pretty good example of a battle aided by faction allies on both sides without complications.

If a similar Battle was to occur involving one of the Kami guilds in your alliance Mio. you say you "would" defend therefore this goes abit against "weighing each situation on its merits" which is more how i see a neutral guild funtioning.

My original posting was not ment as any slur on your Alliance btw just that it is a little different to my idea of neutral.

Healers in Ryzom are not after-the-fact medics that show up to mend wounds and provide humanitarian aid. They are active participants in the battle. I'm sure you're aware of this: if you heal during a pvp battle, you're as much a legitimate target as any meleer or elementalist.

That's the same attitude the mobs give you; if you heal someone while they attack a plod, he considers you as much a target as the attacker.

Actually, a bit more so in a tactical sense, because once the healers drop, the fight is mostly over.

If you accept that, then welcome to the fight, mate. :) If not, you might want to rethink that position.

The merits of our friends and allies are a given. Because we know our friends and our allies, we know the merits for which they stand.

A good example of this is the fact that we (The Samsara) would help Evolution defend without a second thought due to past relations and our friendship.
