I've got not problems with PvP at all. However, removing ones PvP tag takes a great deal of time to do (I don't mean the action of clicking the box, but rather the "cool-down" time after doing so). If anything happens during that time, the timer is reset. So if I'm out hunting and decide to go dig, there is a long time between me clicking it and it actually doing something, time during which I could be doing whatever else I had planned to do.
There is also the nature in which the PvP is being done. If I TP into a region, there is a lag from my computer loading up. There have been times where I've been attacked while I was in the lag of the graphics loading. Not exactly honorable, nor fair as I have no way of targeting them or fighting back.
There is also the repeated killings of diggers. A q250 digger in the jungle has only one place to go to get mats. Having a patrol of PvPers coming and killing you isn't fun. And the PvP tag has such a long timer on it that it either forces the person to do something else for that 30 mins or an hour or whatever it is, or to return to diggin and hope that the patrol doesn't come by.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy pvp, but I think it requires a mature mind to do it properly. If I'm naked at the stables crafting away, its probably not the best time to nuke me. I'm not a threat, nor am I even a fair fight. No honor in killing the unarmed. I could turn my tag off, true, but in the amount of time it would take to simply turn it off, I'd have been long done with crafting.
And if someone does attack an Infinity member, they shouldn't then be complaining to see us react and come after them in force. all for one and one for all. You attack one of us, you attack all of us.

That defines the problem actually. Infinity is saying: you were hostile, so this and that player decided to go after you until he kills every single one of you. And that is HIS own business, not Infinity's.
And as a matter of fact we could say just the same!
But this does not help anyone solve anything...

Yes I can quite understand your position there , the question was infact aimed more at Komissar but your post mustve popped up as I read/replied to his
-still dont understand why ppl are Tagging up for PvP already (unless they do want to "have a ruck" with another Guild) as theres no bonus/malus in yet...

To be honest, I'm not sure that any further discussion is necessary. I'm holding Ciri to her word when she said

Infinitys actions have been in response to the actions of those few nameless with their tags on. If they stop attacking us as they have been, thats fine. All will return to the old calm and pleasant way of life. If they continue and Nameless disowns them, thats fine as well. They will no longer be associated with your guilds name and we will deal with them in our own way.
If things continue as they are now, however, I will seek out Ciri for a meeting.

hehe... sorry, pete
fast fingers tonight!
To be honest, at the moment, I keep my tag on more as a RP thing. I am not only a digger/crafter, but also a warrior, and as such, having my tags on shows I am not afraid of a fight. I think that most of the people who do have it on are the same way. I have seen members of Omega V and Melinoe who have had it on, yet we interacted and played as if they didn't.
Anyway, I'll attempt to steer this thread back on topic now! Sorry for the little detour folks!

Well, a MMORPG needs PvP to be fun for me. If this one weren't offering it from the very beginning, I wouldn't have even beta tested it, let alone preordered it.
Even people that aren't good at pvp and don't do it more than 10% of their time may still require it to be part of the game they play.

For example, I keep my PVP tag on because I woudl dream of a community where we have freedom. This freedom encompasses the freedom to nuke or heal anyone at any time. While the tag doesn't quite grant such freedom it is certainly a step closer.
I chuckle when I come back from afk to see who has nuked me: so far its only been Lewy, Tser, Padawan, and Audrey. But certainly that should grant them KOS status in my book, no?
I like having PVP in game because it gives mature play a chance. The choice to not nuke someone of the opposing faction allows for much more complicated relations.

Gaming companies have learned that most players are NOT interested in PvP. Mythic came out and said it when they were developing the now-cancelled Imperator (PvE only), Turbine always said it when they were questioned about their development choices in AC2, and SoE proved it when they spent a million man-hours developing (what was originally) a PvE only EQ2.
Shadowbane was a really good example of a product that would never fly in N. America. Forget its bugs (which killed the game early-on), it was its design (winner-take-all team PvP) that prevented it from ever appealing to the gaming masses. From what I've read on these forums, the outpost system suffers from a similar design. Pitting haves vs. have nots, and adding in an improveable real estate element, always ends up in whining, crying, an dissatisfaction.
Just my opinion and best regards,
