I agree Lag is killing the fun for me, I have a few hours to play and BAM!! lag hits me and justs makes me quit the game. If this continues I'll cancel my account, no reason to pay for something I do not get to play.

The lag is getting worse and worse. I don't know if it is bandwidth or server problems. I think it may be caused by all the collision detection in the world. The problem exponetiates with the new players coming into the game every day. I know they did a stress test, but I am willing to bet they have gotten more players than they dreamed of and the servers are stressed to handle so many people. At least I hope this is the case, as success in the game means continued longivity of the game. I hope they move that server to the US so part of the lag problem will disappear. Right now its at least 10 hops to the french servers and no matter how much you streamline the game, there will be lag.

The rubberbanding issue arose with the last patch. No I have no idea what caused it ... more and more it is looking like a server side memory leak. Those who have played other mmo's upon launch should remember the problems that arise from client side memory leaks. Restarting your computer every few hours if you were on the high side of the min requirement and more often if you were closer to it. Since these are persistent servers ... I honestly dont think they go down every 24 hours like SWG or others ... I'm sure every day it is up is not helping the problem. I may be wrong about this ... I dont sit and watch server status 24 hours a day ( Dont think my boss would like me not doing anything for 8 hours a day at work .. but I could be wrong)

As for the missing text ... how many other mmo's tried upon initial launch to put into place not only an english server but a french and german one as well?

I absolutely agree, Stygeon. The lag/rubberbanding issue hit me after the last patch, also. It's become intolerable for me and I've stopped playing all together, now. I have played games with client side lag issues and this is not the same at all. I remember the wretched memory leaks in Shadowbane and Horizons, and the constant logging in and out to get what was sometimes only an hour or less of play. It was one of the reasons I quit SB. In Ryzom it happens whenever I log in, immediately and doesn't let up. I've put the game on the shelf for the time being but I'm hoping they'll resolve it soon. The translation problems and things such as NPCs not working, I can deal with. The lag is just too frustrating for me the way it is now.

Maybe if enough people leave from lag frustration, the lag will disappear. One can hope.

everquest launch= terrible
SWG launch= terrible
Horizons launch= lets just forget that game existed
DAoC launch= unplayable

a sad fact of MMO's is that they all ship too early because the devs figure they can patch on the fly and have a free trial month to really get the bugs worked out. the only game i have ever seen with a flawless launch was CoH...just too bad the game got very thin after a few weeks.

only time will tell. they only have a month of my time to get it figured out.

Agreed. Just bought it today and i'm sad to say im fed up with it. I'll still play for the next 29 days but after that. we'll see.

Also does anyone else have frequent lockups or lag issues?

So far in the hour and half i have played i have had to reboot my computer 3 times. The game has froze on me 4 times and Lag froze about 6 times. Its pretty sad.

In Beta, they did NOT have guilds, hate to say it, but guild info, and guild chats ARE what the lag is all about. I hope they figure it out soon, or take guilds OUT of game.

I can tell if a guild is in the area, and if they are using their guild chat, simply by the ammount of lag a region has. Tryker lands were INSANE, and matis was not that much better.

Things that I see that are giving me hope is that they have at the very least, ACKNOWELDGED the issue. In Horizons, they reported in patch after patch, LAG FIXED. And we reported back, in patch after patch, Um Nope not yet. (with them, I have heard from a few people I trust, that the issue is data flooding, horizons has a BAD data packing system and does NOT limit what is sent to a client. So you are getting ALL the info from ANYONE in shout range...it is insane). And Earth and Beyond simply said...What lag...OH you mean YOUR lag...not our fault...nothing we can do. Then six months latter they actually LOOKED at the servers and found that the equipment was NOT the grade they thought it was, OH there IS lag, and it is hardware...DUH. But too late game was already dead by that time.

This game, they found the issue, admitted it exists, and are working on it. Heck to me...that is about half way to fixed.

Many of the other issues are due to people rushing in levels, avoiding certain classes to get top level in one of them. THIS the developers didn't see coming, yes, I know they should have, but they are French and don't think like Americans. Rememeber we get the LEAST ammount of vacation time in the whole industrial WORLD (we get on average ONE month of vacation time, I think germany gets TWO MONTHS, not sure the rest of the G8 nations, but we were DEAD LAST place).

Americans tend to think in a rush, get it done YESTERDAY, HURRY NOW!!!! *Manic running around* Sorry guys, but you know it is the truth.

We need to slow down and realize that this game is not EVEN a month old...and it isn't perfect??? Oh please...what game IS at one month old.

Things I saw on other games at one month post release.

Lag, server crashes, server roll backs (losing EVERYTHING you did for the last FIVE hours), Trade bugs, guild bugs (EQ had, maybe STILL has a guild bug where just zoning into a zone, you lose guild tag, whole guilds have vanished to this bug as they were on a raid and the leader zoned in and POOF...NO guild anymore), Loss of items by simply putting it into bank (horizons had this one after a bank upgrade quest became available, people lost items that had taken them MONTHS to either make or gather the cash to buy, and Horizons did NOT reemberse for this, but rather just put a warning to NOT put anything in the new banks), Graphical glitches (EQ had this one off an on post Luclin release, you had to log off and delete texure caching or turn it off, I forget exactly, but your "average" player just waited til it was on the main patcher). I have even heard of characters being lost on a server. I forget the exact game, but a friend logged on, and the character was there, but the gear was gone and the race, class and gender had been changed. This friend lives alone and has a secure password and gave it to no one. Plus this issue ended up being wide spread and they had to role back those characters to a MONTH earilier server save, it was a data base corruption issue. Again NO reembersment of lost XP or items by that game.

Is this game perfect out of box? No. But then this is NOT a stand alone, play alone game, and it is evolving. Are YOU perfect? I hope you can be honest with yourself. Everything needs to change and grow. And YES they are working on it.

As I see it, Ryzom is fine, not perfect but still playable and enjoyable and well worth the money I paid to play it.

This must win a prize for longest sentence of the week. Sorry to say that I disagree about playability, however. In my opinion Ryzom is NOT playable in this state. At least I can't play. Lag death, rubberbanding and intense lag is not fun, it's frustrating. Why would I play a game that doesn't entertain me? If I wanted a game to stress me out, I'd still be playing SB. If I wanted a game that annoys me, I'd still be subscribed to Horizons. I can ignore the cosmetic issues, but when I pay for a game, I want it to, at the very least, work.

As for most of this post... it was mostly babble that I did not understand. The crack about the French not liking Americans was just plain rude. The bit about holiday time was pure babble... what was that nonsense about and what's it go to do with Ryzom? Any points you may have made were overshadowed by ludicrus statements and alien grammar.

I have not noticed any difference in lag when there is a guild around. The last time I played, I logged out in the middle of nowhere with no one anywhere near me. There were only 7 or 8 other people listed by /who in my area. I doubt if this is the root of the problem. Anyway, I doubt I'd be interested in a game without guilds, even if it ran perfectly.

Guilds aren't the source of the lag we're having. The lag issue started overnight basically. It's been happening since a patch -- I was playing just before it and logged in just afterward.

The lag also wasn't there before that patch, when guilds were already in game.
