Both sides have plenty of folks willing to help you back on your feet. We all like to use side skills now and again...

Everything and nothing has changed with SoR...

I am in Northern CA, and zero lag running two clients on the same connection. Using cable, tho.

I've played Ryzom whilst running other stuff that puts my ping (as reported by game) to 3 seconds and it was still playable, so I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

guitarex wrote:well now i am wondering, is it worth it to start up now that the game has already been out for a whole year? i mean, judging from other mmo experience there would be tons of lvl cap toons running around there, pimping their alts and i will be kind of left out of it all.

I played all thru beta and FBT and then took 9 months off. Started playing at end of may and have hit 250 in dig / melee and not far away in magic. Our guild gets a few new members every week. So you shouldn't have any problems

guitarex wrote:i know there is pvp in SoR, but is it open pvp? as in, i can just go and kill anyone i want from any race including my own? or is it just other races? i remember in beta you could duel your own race, but i don't remember if you could simply attack them.

Open PvP is about to be introduced tho most are imploring Nevrax for a way to allow those who do not wnat to participate out of it. Nevrax appears to have made some accomodations but the pacifist is still penalized in several ways. The price you get from vendors is determined by your fame and choosing netral means your max fame will be 50% of that of a citizen. A neutral can also be attacked 1st by any player while he / she is not afforded the same ability. There's been talk of a PvP switch but doesn't seem to be implemented in the enxt major patch.
guitarex wrote: i chose the international community to play on, but in my profile under community it says UK. does that mean i'll be playing on a UK server? are there no US servers? if so, how will my "lag" be if i am playing from Canada?

Depends on your conenction. A broadband conection will have no issues.

after 14 months of retail, i still managed to find things, hidden things, that made me go wow (not the game :P ) every homin is a noob it is our destiny, unlike the main comercial games, no-one can max their skills unless they put in 5 years/70 hours week grinding, which i doubt anyone will ever do,

"is it worth starting after one year?",
you are the next generation, oneday, your knowledge will be passed down, yor beliefs, and your possitive karma. This is an evolving community as well as an evolving game, a planet, a birthplace, a home.

Enjoy your time here, and build your character. Ensure you get into a nice bunch of friends (guild) and be part of it, there are sooo many skill trees, you dont need to be master of them to have fun and enjoy yourself.

If you dont particularry like what you are doing, change.

Yes there are a few established players out there, but 99% of them wont boast, and/or misuse thier power.

you are now as much a part of Ays as the best/rest of them, enjoy your time here.

Please allow me to correct you on this point: the PvP tag will be included in the Chapter III patch.
