Definitely agreed. I've tried several times to just forget this is an MMORPG and just treat it the Aelius Dunes like a teambased FPS game (which obviously it's trying to be) and participate in the great battle. But it's been nothing but boring and frustrating. I'm below 200 which means I can't even hit the 250s and the only way I can be helpfull is by healing. If I want to play a teambased war, I'll get a game that doesn't require me to grind up to 250 before I can participate. Also, as soon as an AoD targets me I'm dead. There's absolutely nothing I can do to even have a chance to survive. I can't jump out of the way or take cover, every spell fired automaticly hits. I can't hide, compass always shows my location. I can't even use magic protection or run out of the spell's range, by the time it says "AoD X casts an offensive spell on you", the spell is already on it's way to me. Then lastly there's those annoying kinchers. It seems like you have the upperhand in the battle, and then half a dozen of them pop on your healers and leave half your team with DP. Furthermore, they guard every route on the map making it impossible to escape from enemy players or do things like sneak around the enemy army to res your fallen or attack them from behind. Unless you want to drag kinchers on them from behind ofcourse.

I've played and enjoyed multiple teambased FPS games, but this half FPS half MMORPG minigame is either endless boredom (run at enemy, nuke/heal until dead, run back and repeat at infinitum) or endless frustration (trying to use any kind of strategy and failing miserably). I feel like playing a RTS where I can only control a single unit.

Kitin raids FTW
Any raids FTW
PvP games gonna fall on its ass
Lol Basic!

Normally I don't agree with you either, and sometimes you even get on my nerves, but it seems we do agree on something :)

Ah, but remember you'd only get to control one kincher, who would start out as a suckling kincher and you'd have to kill homins for 250 levels before you become a gruesome one. Also, your fellow kinchers would never heal you and would continuously pull homins on you ;)

Building a temple to the Great Kizarak might be fun though.

You can please a lot more people if you try not to force them to do something they don't like. Don't force non-PvPers to be PvPers, don't force casual players to be hardcore, don't force non-RPers to RP, etc.

I wrote 3 long paragraphs, then I decided "frag it".

It was a great post and I'll leave it at that. PvP in Ryzom is lackluster compared to MMOs. It is good to have as an option for those who want it, but Nevrax needs to focus on the things that drew people to the game while they still can.

Honestly, because Evolution lost yet another dedicated player today. *sniff*
The golden old days were great and it's what hooked so many of us. The raids pulled the community together rather than ripping it apart. You can learn more about it from any player that's been here since Beta.

It's sad to see so many people go and I suspect the loss of dedicated players isn't over yet.

Just a little taste of the good ol' days (in no particular order):

And if you wonder were we got our "Karavan Champion" titles:

I can't remember the other one where the "Kami Champion" titles came from :(

Hmm, I think this might work for the PvP'ers: let them play kitins.

Give them a choice of suckling cloppers, kinchers, kirostas, etc. to start out with on a newbie island of their own and then tp them in the PR where they can level up until they can raid the homin nations.

Which of course has me wondering what combination of Tryker guts, Fyros bones, Matis skin and Zoraï masks is needed for the ql250 HQ Claw of maximum damage...
