I do realize that there was a large group of people attempting to work in an uneasy truce. However, I point back to my letter. This is the same way real life works. There are those who believe that only through working together, even if the other person is the enemy, that they can accomplish their goals. However, there are others who believe that there is a time when force should be used, be it to prevent resources from being gained by the enemy or simply because there is a difference in religious ideals.

So for those of you choosing non-violent resistance, I commend you. No one is preventing you from "taking part" in the new content. It brings to mind Gandhi, a man who was able to achieve a great deal without violence, however, was unable to avoid violence itself (he was shot to death by a fanatic). That said, your stance is also an honorable one, however, don't get angry when battle continues around you.

Yes, i am an AoD. and yes, I think that the new zone is not "lower" friendly. While its somewhat of a shame, I think that it was about time that there was some content that was for the higher levels. Previously, the only motivation to get that high was for the title and the respect it brings. Being that high only really helps when a teams about to wipe or on boss hunts.

With the opening of the FvF zone, people are getting to put those high skills to good use and the time put into grinding them up that high is paying off. It also means that people have to work as a team (something that most of the people aren't doing). A 250 Digger thats not touched the other trees is easy prey to fighters/kinchers. So in order for a good deal of diggin to be done, a team must guard the diggers. When those mats are dropped off, there also has to be a higher level crafter present to help make the larger parts of the temples. Essentailly, each "specialized" person has to work with the others to accomplish the end goal.

In real life you can help your "enemy". You can fight alongside eachother, protecting eachother if you want. In Ryzom, you can't. That's the big difference.

I'm curious how one helps their enemy in real life? When a coutry delcares war on another, there really isn't anyone who says "oh yea, well, this group over here... we're gonna fight off both of you".

And who would you "fight alongside" against? I suppose the kitin, but you could do that outside the FvF zone easily enough, not to mention the fact that everyone else will be aiming for one or the other of you. reminds me of Custer...

Although I do not agree that Hitting the cap Means the most rewarding/challenging thing for me to do is PvP (not intended as a dig) I am glad we seem to have common ground on one thing which is that Lower/newer players are to a certain extent excluded from this episode and its content which although may original post may have had a cynical slant was my main point.

Two wounded soldiers meeting somewhere in a streched out battlefield and after a few minutes/hours of hide and seek and shooting / throwing stones at eachother they decide they might as well help eachother to stay alive? Sharing food and equipment (bandages for example) so they have a better chance for survival.

Ofc noone prevents them to start shooting eachother again -- that's a risk each of them are taking.

Also, noone guarantees that when a smaller force of side "A" comes along they won't kill the person from side "B" and maybe even the guy from side "A" for helping the enemy and betrayal. That's another risk both are taking.

In a real war there are 3 sides. The military forces of side "A", the military forces of side "B" and the civilians and deserters caught in the middle, trying to survive.



Imho, Nevrax failed in two points at the deployment of Episode 2:

1.) They forgot to add the possibility for the PvE-only (non-PvP) crowd to affect the storyline.

The talk was about the big old lands where there are lots of Kitins and the followers of the Kami/Karavan and materials needed for the temple. What we found was a small bit of the old lands with a few stray Kinchers and Kipestas and lots of Kami/Karavan followers.

As I said in another thread, could be solved by opening up two maps, one FvF with few/no Kitins and having one part of the mats needed present (like: Shell, Resin) and opening up a second PvE map full of Kitins, probably even with KP (Kitin Patrol) with the other part of mats needed (Sap and Amber I belive).

Maybe (could be a problem due to map size) the current map could be split into FvF and PvE zones. Some materials in the PvE zone under/behind heavy Kitin infestation and some in the FvF area.

2.) Those who want to resolve the Kami-Karavan war by either diplomacy or force (kill both sides) aren't supported by game mechanics.

What they can do is faction hopping and help the loosing side so both sides stay about equal in strength and there is no clear winner. That's the "official" word from Elias Tryton. RP is nice if it has in-game mechanics to support it, and most of the 3rd faction feel the game doesn't provide enough in this regard.

For one example, I can't go in the FvF zone and kill Kami/Karavan guards or players from both factions at once.

The big problem with this is that since it seems participation of the neutrals was never planned, it could take Nevrax a good deal of time to rewrite story to include them or even to come up with a solution how to include them in the story.


In the light of the recent events, I have a question to the developers: will Outposts support the neutral faction? We know they won't support PvE play at first, but will they at least prowide the mentioned rewards for holding them for those guild who wish to say "No!" to both Kami and Karavan?
