Sinful, I think I had the same thing once, only then I was looking for excel mats.
The problem was that there were other (choice) mats around as well. It seems prospect first looks if there are (any) mats around, and if it finds the number of sources you have in your prospect action, it checks of any of those match the quality you want.
So if there are is too much choise around, your prospect tells you that there the quality that you are looking is not found by your prospect.
(Yes it is a bit silly..)
The way to find the stuff you want, is to look for a certain material. So if you were looking for wood, make a prospect only for wood, and then it will prolly pop up your supreme material.

if PR, weather/time of day changed probably.
if desert.. how large are did you check for that choice mat ? (i have always found what i have been tracking
.. or it could be a bug, happens
boinged wrote:Sometimes when PR mats are exhausted I don't get that message, but instead the 'no mats found in this area' one which is incorrect.
i get that too.. but only when useing "up to supreme" and one mat type is depleted, other is empty but "up" and third is out of weather.
but 'no mats found in this area' is not incorrect if you think of it

There are also hidden weather types. It's all a bit random and hopefully will get sorted one day. I think even some of the Q&A answers disagree with findings ingame so something is buggy and it's likely the guides have the official line.
PR weather is not buggy, just misunderstood
10 weather modes+24 hour clock

When after resource tracking for supreme/excellent materials you get to the shown area, do prospecting action for those mats and above message pops, you might as well stop...resources are empty. Happens all the time with PR sources. Sometimes all you have to do is to move 2-5 meters away from that location and run prospecting action again and you finally get the correct message "empty, gone for a while". Very annoying, but have to live with it.
Not sure if the angle of approach or other things affect this message to come up. It even happens if you running prospecting action with Major Prospecting bricks for specific mats.
Mat tracking never failed here...few patches back trying to track resin or seeds you got some mission mats, from plant group
. That did not happen in a while though.

You cant track materials out of season , youl always get a wrong season/none in this area/mats of a lower quality error message
It is possible that your prospect wont find the material you tracked even if all the conditions are met and you are standing on the spot , this is especialy so if you are using the higher range stanzas , id try all the different ranges in that case or move back from the spot and try a low range
I think what someone else said about a high number of other grade/type mats in the area you are prospecting can also mess it up (even though what you are looking for is there your prospect is swamped with the wrong grade/type of mat) -some spots are just a PITA that way :/

My prospect was done both ways with and without material specialization. This spot was just acting very strangely.

This is what was really annoying the heck out of me. The CSR kept repeatedly telling me "you can track mats out of season" blah blah blah.
Over and over again I was being given absolutely incorrect information.
