I almost freaked out when I was remaking my spells. I just know that I'm never gonna handle that stray Ocyx while digging now. (not that I could before patch). I am just glad I got 250 like a week before patch. Boy, was that ever a close call. I probably would have sat at 247 for another two months if I'd have waited till after the patch. I have great sadness in my heart for those close that now are stuck with trying to kill Great jugs or something and have trouble now :(

You can't use the most powerful attack in the game rapid-fire and basically for free? There is obviously something wrong here. What are those devs thinking?

Its been ages since I last went hunting, last night to find out what had changed and because I was asked to come and act as a healer.

This is what I concluded after having a little play with most of the skills...

Healer - bit harder to play and set up, much more fun, requires the team to look after them more. There is a greater need to have more than 3 dbl heals. (HPx2, HP+Sap & Hp+Stam).

Conclusion - Healer is now are real role, not just a spam spells and top up when empty skill. Hunters need more team awareness!

Elem - Yey! finally I need more than just one dbl poison spell. Elementalist now have special attacks (powerful dbl spells) and normal default attacks (single spells or small doubles). Elem's now have to think when hunting and PvPing. Not a 3 casts and your dead fight, watched a melee vs elem duel (melee 3, elem 0) !!!!! Who would have thought it!

Melee - With pulls slightly (not by much) slowed, the melee now plays a leading role in the hunt, rather than the old 'hope I get one hit in before it dies' style we had all got used to.

Team of 5 hunting 5* purple Plods - no wipes, no downtime, reasonable xp speed - seemed like fun to me.

Trying to be objective and based on an evenings play...

HP heal - ok (if I was being really picky, tweak up slightly)
SAP gift - ok (little too powerful)
STAM gift - ok (little too powerful)

Found that in double spells for a balanced mixed double heal I was using 140 HP spell with a 100 STAM/SAP spell, this is kind of frustrating as all the hand bar heals have the HP icon.

Was nice not to have to 'top up' the SAP/STAM, which was the normal before.


Overall it made hunting at around the 200-220 range as fun as hunting used to be when I was in the lvl 50's.

I think I like the changes :D

I think you'd be hard pushed to find me posting I liked the changed to do with nukes.
Also actual use doesn't always fall in line with what you predict something to be like.

Using time credits was the point.

Just be thankful that it's not as bad as it could have been.

My spells take an additional 0.9 seconds to cast. With amps, that's an additional 0.45.

So instead of me casting spells every 1.5 seconds, I'm doing it ever 2 seconds.

So instead of 40/min it's now 30. Much better!

And that's with an 80 time credit on the 250 dbl spells.

Its not all that bad. im lvl 229 ele pre-patch i did 2.6K DMG post patch i do 2.5K Without time credits.

Why is most of the server crying about it?

My first impression is that elemental is only slightly tougher. Soloing elemental felt about the same, perhaps 20% slower. Healing is slightly more difficult, the main effect seems to be that one needs a healer that is closer to the team high skill, probably only about 20-30 levels below the high skill instead of 50-70 levels below as was satisfactory pre-patch (for one example from hunting last night).
