also check if you have many screenshots in your ryzom-directory, those will slow down the game as well

But now get bad freezes. worst case is in pr where can be unable to move for 3-4 seconds which is not good for my health. doesnt happen by the tp but when when i have moved away a little.. very odd. there isnt a 'please wait' box just everything freezes and stutters for a bit.
have a high end desktop setup and from time i got new gfx card (256MB 6800 ultra) to recently everything has been very smooth.
(and hi! atomos)
As with all computer problems the first question you need to ask is....what has changed?
One thing that did change in one of the recent patches is the way SoR handles T&L because of problems with the 77.72 driver by Nvidia. This did affect the performance to some degree (in a negative way)
An other thing that might be affecting performance for people with Nvidia cards might be the "fix" Nvidia put in their latest drivers (77.72 and 77.77) to "solve" problems caused by the Via and ATI AGP 2.0/3.0 chipset.
I'm not sure any of this applies to any of you but if it does...
you at least know what happened (cuz there's no way of fixing it atm...)

yeah the picture lag when u take a screenie can get massive if you havent moved all the saved ones from default folder -)
and nvidia drivers yes, that seems a likely culprit. i am going to try rolling back to a old one, but always i'd rather spend my time playing than downloading drivers

yeah the pictures thing is a pain, took me ages for the thought to occur that the 800+ pics i had in folder was what was causing the lag. a nice improvement for a patch one day would be the pics saved to a tmp folder and then moved when u logged out to permenent home, and a little slideslow viewer/album maker would b interesting. adding metadata to pics as u take them could give a wicked way of sorting and sharing our lives on ryzom

Hi Rushin, good to see you
Thanks for all the helpful replies on this

but none to solve the problem
Cant be screenshots - my mother still doesnt know how to take em
Cant be N-vidia Driver issue as the card is an ATI, with the same drivers as when the game played well, also with ATI mobility cards there is no way to download drivers for them.
Registry cant really be an issue as the laptop only has Ryzom and a few other programs (office and stuff) installed and also the few games i have installed to test.
I really cant think of anything else to do to resolve this :/
Thanks again everyone.

Try either an FFR (if you have disks or a recovery partition) or switching the video modes in the configuration around to see if one works better than another.
