i was talking about the region that is inside 100m from the main entrance of the main cities of fyros/matis/zorai/tryker. outside of that it get's more difficult, true, but i don't think that does happen until you're higher in the levels. care to give examples?

Pyr ?

Those lvl 5 or whatever gingos were dangerous for me until i had 150 healing, and then the only reason they stopped being so dangerous was because i finally started dodging some of their attacks. I still couldnt kill a single one of them with my low lvl melee, because i simply ran out of hitpoints before they died.

east of the south entrance, near the small ruin: lvl 46 gingo
near the dune stalkers, 200 m from main entracne: lvl 44 goari
beyond the plain, 300m from main entrance: lvl 35 + lvl 44 gingos
nort of the main entrance, 200m: lvl 26, 35, 44 gingos

didn't need to test with a newb char, since i know that i could solo 1:1 each of these with light armour and 2 knifes when i was lvl 45 in melee and even leveled on them

Yrk and Pyr both (although it happens regardless of level, nothing should be able to kill you that does not give XP). The Goari, Ragus, and Gingo around both (often within 100 meters, if you must nit-pick) are frquently the cause for rez-calls, often from folks on their way to yellow zones to level.

I find it VERY unlikely that the person who wrote that review had some sort of neffarious hidden agenda, or ulterior motive. They were simply stating the facts. It is a testament to the work of the 3D sculptors that they have created a world so beautiful as to blind otherwise intelligent players to the huge, gaping faults in the game (I do not refer to the sycophants, their opinions are worthless).

anttimus, watch videos and prepare to brown your intimates!
Ok, not so much, but they're cool :p

These are ALL PLAYER MADES, and in-game events/scenes.

I have played a few other mmorpgs, and SoR has the most immersive and "alive" environment of any world. My biggest frustration with Nevrax atm is the pace they're updating the game. You can't play the same game for 6 months and not wish for new "stuff" (sorry J). But I still think the game kick-ass on so many levels.

And lastly, to paraphrase, this (or any mmorpg) is "not a game, it's a service" :P
Anyone who claim it is is missing the point ;)

I played ryzom all day every day from release up until about the middle of may. Then the boredom sank in and the empty promises of outposts drove me to cancel my account. Then I began my quest for my perfect MMO and I finally found it... when I resubscribed to Ryzom :D

I tried WoW, EQ2, City of Heroes, Lineage 2, Matrix Online, and they where all rubbish, they just were not the games for me. What I get from Ryzom and no other game is that I 'actually feel' like a part of the world. Every players actions can have a considerable affect on the game.

Yes these other games can churn out patches and new content but just it feels like stale bread to me, I don't feel like I really count for anything at all. After about a 2-3 month break of Ryzom im just now enjoying the game for what it is and when new content comes along, it comes along, im not so eager beaver anymore.

(I have to give Lineage 2 some credit it was a pretty good game, I just hate the idea of classes and being an 'overall' level... It just wasnt ryzom ;) )

Those rez-calls happen when several of these gang up on them and well, those aggros are meant to be a menace, to be a danger. I find it really hard to believe that it is possible for a fight-oriented character with levels above those lower-range mobs to be killed when being full in hp/stam/ sap and when only taking them on one on one.

Not consciously, but as i did show above, the person left out facts, embellished others or was simply mistaken in some. I won't guess why, i simply do state these facts.

Gotta disagree, at least with the first bit. As was stated earlier, you can not dodge them well enough until you have around 100 levels more than they do. Usually, the rez-calls are from someone who was jumped by a single mob. Watch for a few hours, you will see that this is true.

As for the rest:

Some players have been complaining for months about lack of new "stuff". Nothing has come along (save for a few "bug hunt" events, good lead-ins, but then they all degrade into "kill X(s), or escort X(s)"), and players have left because of this.

Some players have been complaining, even after the hurried fix to patch one, that mobs were over-powered. Nothing has been done, and players have left because of this.

Some players have been complaining for months about broken or useless skills/powers, such as the sleep spell, "aim at" stanzas, and the "slow" power of blunt weapons (drasticly weak compared to the other two), links being weak, etc. Nothing has been done, and players have left because of this.

Some players have been complaining for months about having PvP forced down our throats, despite majority opinion. "Then stay out of PvP areas" comes the reply. That is hardly an inteligent statement, however, as many resources made necessary by the above noted problems are, albiet only slightly, mitigated by resources found ONLY in PvP areas. I do not count those rendered as good as non-existant, due to being under insurmountable agro. Many started Ryzom because of the lack of PvP, myself included. I have seen war in RL, and it holds no romance for me, only disgust. If PvP is desireable to a player, why play Ryzom? Why not almost any other MMORPG with more resources, and better planning abilities? Nevertheless, PvP remains a driving goal of the developers, and players have left because of this.

It is very simple. It is obvious that the current practices and design of the game do not work from the continuing exodus. Either start listening to those who complain, or Ryzom is heading for a single server, with a very small population of perfectly contented people, soon to fade to black.

It couldn't be more obvious from observable facts, and I do not know how to put it any more plainly. I love this game, although I begin to expect that is more due to a vested intrest than any inherent superiority of the product. If those who support the current state of affairs do not understand from the blatantly obvious that, despite their enjoyment, they are incorrect in their support of the status quo, I am at a loss, as I can not see how any supporter could possibly think that things are going well.

my max lvl in melee is 75 and the gingos i listed above stopped being a nuisance when i was lvl 65 *shrugs* (oh and that is my highest level, i'm not hiding behind some lvl 250 harv. skill ;) )

gotta agree there for the most parts, except for the events(these all went up a notch in quality lately on leanon) and the talk about an exodus, this once again is only true for leanon, but the player base is indeed stable and even slightly growing at the moment

One of the things that I loved about the game when I started was that those gingos and goaris around Pyr were so hard. I had rubbish gear and to solo them with magic I had to understand how and why they moved. To travel any distance I always had to be alert and aware of my surroundings as well as having luck if it was new ground.

For me this added immensely to my immersion in the world. And rez calls were one of the great joys of Ryzom since it meant that someone somewhere was pushing the envelope... How I miss the chaos created by those who had run afoul of the baying gingo by the Dune Stalkers (no I never !) .. or the kincher around Dyron...
This always reminded me that homins were only just re-establishing themselves on Atys

And of course now we have... the gear is better, the harvesting and hunting spots located. To get the same level of fun now I have to tangle with the Great Kinchers up in Void but somehow always get distracted by the easier Najabs or Dai Den.. but that is my problem.
