Slash, Blunt and Piercing is the max amount that the armor can protect against from the different physical attack types. The proection factor is the max percentage of damage that the armor could "absorb".
So with armor #1, it will never stop any physical attacks because the MAX amount it could stop is 0.
With armor #2 It
could stop 3 slashing damage. But the mob would have to deal 300 damage first. If the mob dealt 100 slashing damage you would only absorb 1 from that.
I hope that's clear, but if it's not keep nagging us. I'm sure we'll get there eventually

ummmm, isnt 3 sort of 10% of 30.. not 300..
so it wont stop more than 3 damage, and it wont stop more than 10% of damage anyway, so if you are hit for less than 30 points, you will receive 90% of the hit, and if its for more, then whatever the damage was - 3 points.
light armour protection IS NOT a life saving device.. the value of LA is in the boosts that it gives to your stats

Many of the game windows have a question mark symbol in top right corner. It opens help page that explains contents of that window. It is quite easy to miss...

Great answers Thanks for your help. Really got into the game and got to practice some stuff that I learned here.
One last question: How do you repair items? Is it a higher level craft skill?

You don't
. You buy new ones, or craft them, or beg for them... well you just can't repair. Keeps the economy busy I guess.

Can't repair items and you would need upgrade badly when items breaks down anyways.
