Can teams be of mixed faction? I don't see why not if the mix is only with neutral characters. What happens then when a team enters a faction PvP zone and members are assigned opposing sides according to their Fame?
Chat channel for Kami and Karavan factions sounds like a very good idea.
I don't like the faction icon, I like the idea of having to target another player to find out what their faction is. Spacebar targeting sounds too easy to me, at first thought.
[DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
I think automatic assignment is going to cause more problems than it is worth tbh.
In a way that has already been mentioned, I am a Fyros with high Kami fame, but my guild is a Neutral guild with most (Matis) members having higher Karavan fame. My current plans were to fight one of the events as Kami, and the other as Karavan (since we have 2 events - one EU time, one US time). Now it seems I won't be able to join my guildies at all?
Even worse than this is going to be guilds that are "truely" neutral and make sure that they have approximately matched Kami and Karavan Fame; half of the guild is going to end up on one side of the "fence", and half on the other.

Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Well, if they intend automatically assign to teams, I certainly hope there will be a fraction range to allow the majority of people who don't want to be on either side to remain neutral.

Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Nice to know that fame starts to have some serious affects. Automatic assignment is very good.
Maybe having a neutrals at e.g. -10 - +10 range. Range should be so that each race's starting fame should be enough to determine side. Obtaining neutral status would require working on your fame. Neutral could remain neutral or choose side but choosing either side should affect both fames, maybe even so much that fame is not at neutral range anymore.

Öh sprite you plan to fight for Kami and Karavan as well?
Sounds a bit like betrayer than. If you are neutral you should neither fought for Kami nor for Karavan.
Fame based assignment is a very good idea.
I just wonder how neutral homins will be dedected.
If they assign with kami/karavanfame +-0 than ther won`t be any neutrals.
I hope for a tolerancerange here. It should be of fame 50-70 +/- to give homins the possibility to choose but ther choice has to be accompanied by harder work (making missions to get the proper fame). Loyalty is a difficult thing and much need to be proved to get assigned to one side (btw. there are lots of people complaining about nothing to do, this way will be bussiness if the Homins have fame which not matches their interests)
If you wish to remain neutral and not involved then, just make the missions of the faction of the side you have a negative fame. The Kami and karavan will first balance, than one will increase while the other gets more and more down.
Alternatively there could neutral Homins assigning missions to Homins which brings the Kami and Karavan fame to the balance around 0.

Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
I guess automatic assignment would give Nevrax a way of predetermining the sizes of each opposing side so that they could better balance events. But like many players, I have jiggled about with so many missions that my fame is all over the place.

All your factions might be, but karavan and kami will be in one placetrenker wrote:I guess automatic assignment would give Nevrax a way of predetermining the sizes of each opposing side so that they could better balance events. Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Mmh, might than come into consiteration the neccessity of a reset of all fames even though this made all efforts gaining fame useless?trenker wrote:I guess automatic assignment would give Nevrax a way of predetermining the sizes of each opposing side so that they could better balance events. That would give all Homins the possibility to correct their fame according to there believe - without using some bugs like those of constantly killing members of special tribes.
Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Hehe, let's reset all skill levels to 1 at same time

Re: [DEV] PvP - Faction Assignment
Assignment according to fame seems to be a good idea, but I can see problems with it.
If you haven't done many missions then Kami/Karavan fame is deretmined by your character's race. This also means that your alignment will be (has been) choosen upon character creation basically, even tough you might want to make a Kami aligned Matis (for example).
Now altough I agree that turning from one faction to another should take time and hard work, I don't think that you should be "destined" to be Kami or Karavan when you create your character. The decision should be yours. I also think that you should gain faction fame from killing players of the opposing faction - seems only logical (how much "faction xp" you gain should ofc be dependant on your opponent's level to prevent newbie-ganking as The Way to raise fame fast).
There is also the problem that atm when you do civilisation missions, you automatically gain fame with Kami or Karavan so staying neutral might become difficult.
I think when faction fame will have real meaning both in day-to-day activities and PvP there should be an option to reset your fame to 0 with both Kami and Karavan. If you wish to stay on one side, you can, but should you want to become neutral or change to the other side you should be able to do it *once*. After that it's up to you to decide where you stand. Allows for more RP freedom but still prevents faction-hopping.
(The reset option should also be available to guilds ofc)
