Made sense imo, if you were going mostly for def mag, you'd put on the "Defensive magician" title and people would know they've found a healer...
Makes more sense to me that you're a Defensive Magician when you've mastered the Defensive Magic tree and not when you're starting it, but anyway...

No, I wouldn't want Shaman and Warlock to be put back in. As I said in the other thread about these titles, they're just too Warcraftish to have a place in the Ryzom universe.

I would like some nice new titles to be put in though, specially in the forage and craft skills. (Forest forager, advanced forest forager, expert forest forager, master forest forager? Come on, that's just the same title used four times.) An come to think of it, why are the magic trees "master" at 201 while all the others aren't "master" until 250?

I want Black Mage. It was around in release even. So disappointed to hear it was gone after putting 40 levels towards it:/

I don't particularly like Shaman or Warlock, they sound very out of place to me for the Ryzom world.

"Summoner" I could do without though, what does that have to do with anything?

Unless they plan on giving me some summoning skills, call me "Illusionist" or "Paralysis Bringer" even... I'm sure they could come up with something better.

I am also against non-Ryzom titles.

I would also like to see elimination of priest and celestial guardian titles from healing tree. What does priest have to do with healing magic? Celestial guardian, should there be a heaven or something for such things to exist.

Priest could be some kami / karavan related title and celestial guardian could be a karavan title.

But having said all that, I must say that most of current titles are rather poor and unimaginative.

I took Celestial to be the sky/space meaning. Like a guardian of the cosmos.

How does this make sense?

First let me clarify something: The titles used to be awarded based on what skill tree you had available to you, thus you could pick a title based on what youa re currently working on. Patch 1 changed this scheme to gaining titles based on what you have completed, thus it is obvious that a tier of titles needed to be removed to fit the current/new scheme.

However this poll has become about whether people think names xxx or yyy fit better or look cooler.

So I will give it a proper analysis.
It is not a return to the old ways, but even if it was, change isn't always a change for the better.

We can either vote on coolness, or utility.

I personally liked having defensive magician and offensive magician because it said what I was. Especially in the first few months of the game it was really cool to see what the new titles were and strive for the neat ones. At the moment most of the titles follow a simple formula like Master xxx for level 200 magic and Master xxx for level 250 fight. The coolness factor of the titles was officialyl removed from the titles without explanation, and the utility is lost because The description of what you are trying to do at the moment is gained after you are done doing it.

So my argument is that the current/new titles in comparison fail on both counts.

How about if you would get a boring title (=like most of the current ones) based on your level but you could get a corresponding cool title from a specific rite after you have gained boring title.

These rite titles might have some faction related flavor. Some of these rites could be rather simple like lvl 51 Matis melee character would have to kill Ora (solo?) to get title "Hunter".

Of course, this would require someone coming up with huge number of cool titles if all major factions would give unique titles.
