Magick's not talking about the beast/whatever sounds. Stand on the hill with the stage on one side and you're looking down at the campfire. It's feminine sounding - kinda "sharp". When not concentrating, it sounds like an animal sound... a frog maybe.

I'm picking out sounds like "feni", then a wash/garble of sound and then "codac".

"feni" is probably the animal sound and while taping it there was a bleed through, "put the code in"

um...if it were during sound FX recording, wouldn't the background comments be in French?

That to me sounds like a child's cry - I remember it so vividly from the first night I set foot in Yrkanis - just one of the first of many wondrous & lifelike touches that draws me deep into this world. It practically took my breath away...

I don't speak French and some would say I don't speak good Anglesh needer, seeing az I was born in Mississippi and rayzz'd in Maine. Spenden the lassh nigh on twanty yaahs in East Teahzuz ain't dun my accent a whole haell of a lot of gud needer.

Okay, got that out of my system. So. And, well, then... are there French words that sound like "put the code in"?

Yeah! "code in" = "homin" Very close! - and very possible.

I'm not saying what I hear is what is said.. All I'm saying is "this is what it sounds like to me". Anybody else have a guess or two?

Interesting that you heard it as a child's cry, Anne.
