I'd like to see a story that makes a difference or impacts the world in some way. Not just stories on the website and a few lines here and there from GM controlled characters and the MOTD.

If something happened that actually did change something in the world, there would be people ranting at/about Nevrax over it because they liked it the way it was. *rolls eyes*
For example (if the TPs didn't already have bulk): if teleportation pacts started having bulk because the Kami and Karavan started handing out actual, physical tickets instead, people would still be whining about the bulk just like they are now.
Actually I'm not sure if that example illustrated my point the way I intended it to...can't think of a better one at the moment, though.

Wow, you're not thinking about the type of change I'm thinking about at all. Not piddly stuff like a TP working or not. I mean significant changes. Kitin invading and taking over an area, us invading them and opening up a new area, us working together to build a new town/bridge/building, the karavan or kami making a big move and taking over an area, etc.
There's hints that something may happen, but at this point, until it does, I remain skeptical of Nevrax's ability to actually put a meaningful story into the game.

If I recalled correctly, at the time we were shouting that the event was taking way too long to finish, we wanted our Dyron back!
But granted, that was mainly because there were nothing we can actually DO to push the Kitins back, but just to wait for the devs to flip a switch to move the event forward.

There were definitely some problems with the event. It was confusing at first so no one really understood the point. More importantly, as the event went on, the realization hit that we weren't going to make any difference. As soon as the bosses were killed, everything disappeared and went back to exactlly the way it was prior.
This other thread I posted a while back goes into specifics of what I'd like to see for storyline events and how that particular invasion event lived up to my criteria:

It was just an example...see why I said it was a bad example? lol

That was source of major whining back then.

Yeah, there were a few whining about it. But most of the whining was over the "clickfest" and that no one had any idea what they were supposed to do.
Once we all figured out what we were supposed to do (it took about 5 days), we came together and had a blast driving the kitin back.
It seems to me that Nevrax has a choice: 1) either play it safe and do nothing major in the game, leaving it the same stale world it's been since launch or 2) take some risks that a some people will be unhappy and shake things up a bit.
I personally want #2 because it's getting harder every day to keep excited about a game where 95% of the time all you've got to look forward to is a "you have gained a level" message.
