haha, telling you off for derailing was a joke neun (im not that scary am i?)

thanx guys for some really nice ideas, Suiboom, what you do is really cool and i personally love the idea about linking the islands with some PR type area.(gets all nostalgic thinking of the days when getting to PR was an achivement) although there would probably need to be some cool reward to encourage ppl to stay in noobie island long enough to make their way through it.

*pokes neun* would love to go to a big party in noob island if someone cares to arrange a weekend event there :D

Hell has no furry like a woman scorned! ;) (of couse not *hug*)

So if you really want to find out what needs to be done to improve Starter Lands .... Join the party

http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15580

Don't forget some of the things in Ryzom are very easy when you know the answers. By definition a new player has no idea what is right or wrong, what they do know however is, what is fun and not fun to them.

The above is open to all timezones, all races. If you have one account and five alts, get a free trial, but don't forget to cancel to avoid additional costs.

If you are a new player to Ryzom you are also very welcome...... should you win a prize, it will be awarded to any of your chars (your choice and can include the Alt you competed with), but don't leave Starter Isle till you have been verified *wink*

Oh .... I will be competing too!

Cheating - if you want to create an alt today and start leveling it, thats up to you. Your victory maybe hollow, but I will expect a load of Feedback from you!

Better start digging if you are going to win :) Diljoleth is currently lvl 50 digging at zorai starter island and hasn't even started to play with mission mats yet.

Notes on the "Rebirth" experience:

The most common advice I gave out was that harvesting and crafting with medium and heavy armor on is not a good idea. But I've been telling that to new players for ages, even on mainland, hehe.

There were a few people that had questions on how the custom actions work, from "how to" and "why"

Everyone is regularly asking at what level to go to the mainland, they all want a concrete number. I tried to say to go when they understood how things worked.

::Interesting observation::
To my knowledge, none of those top 3 things are addressed in the new "Game Basics" section on the Ryzom.com home page. I'd say they missed the most important stuff, particularly how to edit custom actions.

I'll add in more stuff as I think of it.

These were the most common ones I found as well. Explaining how the credit works for actions was the hardest, it took a few attempts usually to explain how the action has to be balanced and most people didnt even realise you could do this.

As to heading to mainland, my advice was to reach lvl 20 in each skill first, that way you would have a good understanding of how the game worked and a fair idea of how you would like your character to progress. I also thought it important to point out that when you first head to mainland you start in an area quite similair to the starter islands just a tad bigger and a lot busier.

As I see things, this seems to be a fair advice *provided* that the refugee lands are populated enough. Not having other players around to ask questions or playing alone is a bit frustrating. In other words, it is not a bad idea to suggest players to move to mainland even at lower levels. To be honest, it is possible to go to mainland at lvls 1/1/1/1, there are suckilng yubos as well, and a few more advantages.

10 in everything is not hard, and still gets you the general feel of the game, w/o haveing to become board and lonely, since you are still starting out. after that, however, I was chomping at the bit to talk to someone.

playing since first Beta (with the occasional break for food and stuff)

Many Ideas for Starter Islands

Hi Everyone!

Free Beer and Chips for everyone!

(1){Tribes}
I like for the Starter Islands> to have few Evil Tribes we can do and attack and kill.. :)
These tribes at times in the Starter Islands would make few attacks on our camps when there numbers incressed.. :)

(2){NPC Mounts}
Have a few NPCs take the mounts on for a walk... Poor Animals im sure they love to get out some too. :)

(3){Fading}
Set it so that our Characters dont do fading at the start.. If we wanted it we will be able to set it up. :)

To turn off fading of the character.
For those that have fading and want to turn it off...
Click U then go to Interface...and now click Hud...lower left box uncheck and close and you wont see into your character anymore. :)

(4){Icon Mode}
Set up were everyone window/game/actions is set on Icon mode please.

To change this right click Game Tab.... now set to icon mode..
This will make more viewing room!

(5){Barracks or Bunkers}
Would be cool to have Barracks or Bunkers were NPCs would take breaks and sleep.. Players could use these too.

(6){Trainers}
I wish we did not have to warp to Trainers...
BUT if we have to Warp??? Place all of them in 1 room Please?!? :)

That would save us alot of loading and ram using... :P

(7){Fishing}
What would really be cool if we could do Fishing... any lake pond or water hole.. Mabe on the mainland could rent small 2-3 man fishing boat. :P Or abe to buy our own Fish animal mounts?

(8){Mob Size} @nd Color

Yes many mobs are bigger...just that would be cool that Yobos would be differnt in size and color.
What be really cool on the stater island would be {1 Star} would be normal size.... {2 Star} would be Med size and {3 star} would be Larger size... Or differnt color would help too!
This would be neat and would help anyone starting out tell that the size of the animal is going to be harder :)

(9) Tents and camp fire and Chairs NPC sold or Player made!
I wanted to add this because i think buying one from a NPC would be really cool... Or Player made :)
Fix it were we can Set up this camp and even sit in the chairs! This way friends could sit at the fire and talk and tell jokes! If we could cook that be awesome too! add sleep emote too..that way we can rest near the fire or rest in the tents!

Ive ran of of things...Please fell free to make comments or suggestions :)

Later Guys and Gals..
