Also like to add that one of the article interesting point is his comment about the common community reaction to post-patch, especially for major patch. We have seen the same with the mobs dmg increase patch (patch 1 disaster), the mektoubs items transfering patch, and now the tikie bulk patch.

We might think we are smart players, but I have a feeling that we are doing the exact rejection of "short-term bad, long-term good" kinda deal he mentioned. Or maybe we're right, these are "short-term bad, long-term disastrous" kinda thing :D
Interesting article.

The commonality of design features will continue, but as the market matures the popular games will become those that break the mold. For an example of this look at the evolution of real-time-strategy or first-person-shotters.

I strongly agree with vinnyq's last comment. For example i can't imagine too many people agruing that we should go back to pre-patch one where each combat took about 5 minutes! Start combat then go get a coffee? Whole echelons of people quit after that patch but i don't hear anyone arguing for a return to the old way anymore. And i dont think its just because they believe they wouldn't be listened too.

Take the latest patch outcry. Ticket bulk. If implimented as the patch notes suggest, i.e. along with a 200 bulk increase in our bags, would there be any issue? Only people with more than 400 tickets would actually have less bag space. Long term is any newbie going to say, "well i really like this game but the 0.5 ticket bulk was a contributing factor to making me go over to game X instead"?

Perhaps i'm wrong.

Yup. I blame monday.

Even without the extra bag bulk i imagined the ticket bulk thing is only annoying. Just means i can cart less mats back each diggin run. Sounds like they are going to reduce it anyway.
