to eleborate, before i'm asked, i have an issue when i autorun into almost any town i crash. this is reproducable almost 100% of the time, sometimes i get lucky and don't, smaller ones without loading music don't crash on me. the only solutions i've been told by the gm's and guides are "it's your system turn off everything" well if i have to keep turing down my settings, i'm going to play a game i'm NOT paying to play and i don't have to do this.
this is a bug as it only happens when i autorun into a city. now why this doesn't happen with everyone is simple, any coder or anyone with a bit of an inclination for map making, a faster computer will compensate for certain issues as will more powerful video cards, slower systems can't cope with this and crash.
Just curious, what was the system spec of the puter that was doing this? i.e. CPU, RAM, and video card?

Thexdane, if you are constantly crashing then it must be your system.
I run the game on 2 PC's, one with an older MX 460 nVidia and another with an ATI 9800. Neither one crashes once I disabled the EAX stuff. Before that I would crash every now and then when a lot of sounds were happening in the close vicinity to me (waves in Tryker lands or really noisy mobs) And being a GM I am constantly teleporting all over the map. Never once have I crashed upon entering a town or teleporting.

doesn't matter it's a bug in the game itself, it only happens when the town's theme music is set to go off.
my friend who has a slower system than me has even more problems with crashes and is considering leaving the game due to them patching the game so it becomes more and more unstable for him.
i can fortunately play it with a lot of crashes, except when i run into a city with music. but yeah it's my system that's the problem and not an issue with the game itself

Thexdane, the csr tell it to you like it is.
In my opinion they would never give you info if they didnt believe it was true (like it being your system not being able to cope). If they did tell you something "just to get you off their back" im sure it would go against everything they stand for as a csr team. Also they wouldn't ever get the highest ratings for customer support out of all the current MMORPG's if this was the case.
Allow me to share a story at this point
Case example: My own computer...
I had a crappy gfx card and tried to run SoR. i crashed practically nonstop. I suspected also my computer was heavily infected with a megaubervirus because my pc wouldnt even load windows explorer. At which point i sent in a ticket to turenkarn.
His response was fast (within 5mins). I gave him my system spec and he advised that i needed a new gfx card and more ram. We also spoke about the virus potential on my pc, he advised how norton and SoR dont work together ideally and recommended trying pandascan on the net. This didnt solve my problem so on a second conversation with him he patiently taught me all about reformatting my harddrive so i could start afresh. I did this and i have since installed a new gfx card and upped my ram to 1.5 gig. Hence to say now my pc runs like a dream, and it is all thanx to turenkarn because otherwise the technophobe that i am would have bought a new pc.
So i guess you can add to the list of points about the CSR the words, friendly patient, understanding and even willing to help on non-ryzom related problems.
Our CSR rock and so do their hugs!! How can you not appreciate a hug from the csr?
(and sorry for the slight hijack but we got there in the end)

Crashing when entering towns is quite common amongst players. Lot of people have that problem, including me (I have pretty good rig and no EAX). When I see that game has not been able to load all graphics (invisible buildings), I'll stop for few seconds. If I continued to run, game would usually crash.
Of course, this is big problem when on follow (e.g. afk player during trip).
There is also some places that crash/disconnects players. Worst I know is Folly farm in Matis. It is doom of big treks Matis<->Tryker as lots of players are deemed to crash there.
I do not usually fully agree with thedexdane but saying that there is no problem with game based on fact that game works correctly on 2 computers is quite blatant. Do not take me wrong as I have lots of appreciation for Zerlin. I just can't agree this time.

Actually it does. If your system doesn't at least minimum spec then it's not the company fault. But I am aware that there're lots of system that do meet spec and crashes at specific area, and is hard to pin down. This is why I am asking what your spec is.

I haven't crashed upon entering a town or teleporting either but I've heard of several (via Klient, region chat, guild chat, TeamSpeak) of folks who do.
I used to crash a lot around Fairhaven. Land's End would almost always be my end. Either walking around it or swimming by it. I haven't crashed there in a long time.
I used to crash coming over Kami Hill (where the Kami welcomer is east of Fairhaven) if I ran or was on a mount. Sometimes I am forced to walk through town because the lag can get so bad. Reducing my game settings seems to help. I used to think I had a beefy system but its definitely showing its age (Soma, can I get a new one??). 2Ghz, 512MB RAM, Ti4600-128MB video.
I crashed before the town music and after it was added. I definitely crash a lot less than I used to. So something has changed. I'll need to check to see if EAX is activated.
As far as the CSR's, they are doing a great job. I look forward to getting to know them better. I did have an old grievence of what appeared as CSR's not communicating issues/resolutions with each other (I helped two CSR's with the bag weight-speed factor "bug" - bag weight effects speed factor, once it reaches zero you can't move). But I haven't seen that since the shard merge.
I've stopped submitting tickets until Spring Clean-Up produces a patch. Then I'll go out and double-check the ones that I submitted. Like if the tree on Sandy Workshop is still floating above the ground (my first ticket) and the german cross shaped puddle is still there (2nd ticket). Workshippers are gone (12th ticket) but the Black Circle Guard is still hanging out with the Beachcombers in Enchanted Isle (last ticket). But thats for the QA teams to resolve, not CSR's.

i said AUTORUNNING not and i repeat NOT teleporting, i typically teleport into towns and yes i disabled eax and turned down the texture pack i'm using
and since several ppl have now reported this issue, it's not just my system
it's doesn't always happen but yes it's reproducable and i know of a few other players this happens with
but i'm glad as a paying customer and the one partially responsible for your paycheck, i really enjoy not being listened to and blamed for some duck and cover matter by your company and nevrax

I'm sure they enjoy being continuously accused of not doing their job or implicated in some conspiracy... It's payday... they know where their paychecks come from.
Try to use the same tone with them as you expect them to use with you.
I tossed a yellow flag on Zerlin, its only fair to send one your way.
I hope your issue is resolved soon.
