Nevrax released a new toolset at March for event managers. Optimistically, this toolset could be the first version of toolset intended for players! This would mean that ryzom ring thingie might be reality sooner than we might otherwise expect based previous experiences.

Nevrax released a new toolset at March for event managers.
Yup but do you think the events are any different now than before ? , it may be that its easier to set these up now but i was expecting more from events made with the new headline news "Event tools" . Kinda reminds me of the "Raid Engine" announced as an awesome tool but seldom used it seems and never able to get the balance quite right between too easy and too hard , i know thats always going to be difficult if not impossible (spanning a lvl 20-250 playerbase) but still...

Well, last events that I have attended have not required any tool to develop. Just make a character and play some rp stuff and stories. Maybe there has been need for improvements to tools before they are actually usable for real events and thus we have not seen those tools in action yet.

lol this is turning into a real rollercoster ride of expectations and fears from "WOW Amazing" to "OMG the exploit potential" and back again , its certainly the big announcement Nevrax promised , atm im feeling abit shellshocked tbh (WOW + Kipee Stun)

I want something new NOW and not in 2 or 3 years. I mean something else then a hurridly pushed together web page.
Here is some more detailed infomation from a german site.
- First tests of the ring will start in autum 2005
- The first step-release will be online winter 2005
- There is a dedicated team only for the ring so development of the
original Ryzom will not be disturbed
- This is what Nevrax assures...
In the first step of R2 release players will have limited possibilites in building worlds. Future updates will more and more liberate the possibilities. The jump to the maps will be possible for all servers. So Aniro, Leanon and Arispotle players can meet on a custom area.

The Ryzom Ring sounds as though it could bring exiting possiblities but i really think that the main thrust Nevrax should be making atm should be to deliver on the stuff promised on the game as is, Outposts, Encylopedic Rites and more Dynamic events like the one we had before.
I think we all agree on the potential of Ryzom and I am sticking in there but it really is getting overdue for them to deliver on the game as is.
I know serveral established players including Sky who posted above who are getting disheartened and losing patience, ideas and development are a great thing but it really is time to get some of the previous promised ideas sorted and into the game we have atm.
Some old faces have returned recently after flirtations wih other products but i fear unless stuff is added soon many will not be staying.
Deliver us Outposts! and fix the Rites!, then maybe just maybe we can think about trusting what may happen with the Ring!!

I'm bored out of my little mind at work... waiting for a client to get back from his 3 hour lunch.... and i've been reading a lot of these threads.
I'm not a fan of the constant whining and complaing in some of these posts, but I would have to say that the Ryzom Ring doesnt excite me in the least. I'm sure some of you know how to create these 3D enviornments... I dont have the slightest idea of where to start, and dont have much of an interest in learning. I enjoy playing, and using them sure, but do I know how they work and function? No.... i guess its like my TV... I use it, but if you asked me how the heck that little antenna picks up a radio signal and projects that onto my screen, in sync with the audio, I'd think you were crazy.
I kinda feel like this is an attempt by nevrax to liven up things a bit in Atys... but honestly how many of us will particiapte in the creation of this? It says that we need to pay extra for the hosting and such.... not too inviting for me. I'm sure that there are some MMORPG and 3D animation.. savvy individuals out there, but not many. Also it said that to prevent exploits, there will be no XP at first... so, are we just going to make a map to go exploring in? Hmm... not much of an addition in my opinion.
Ah well, what do I know. I'm just Thom, Thom, Thom.

Well Limitless Horizons Entertainment did the same thing with The Mourning after going down on cash. can't say they made a bang of fame or bigger player mass on what.
This not any thing new really and as many says we like to play not work, i do plenty of what the rest of the day, this is old thinking not new thinking.
We have worked plenty for nevrax already with testing and bug reporting over a year and to charge us even more for this is a laugh.
Cool ide. old but cool. To bad it was not in the release.
Tyr.

i really dont get where you think you'll be charged
you can use freely the content made by others players. unless you want to make your own map/content, you dont have to fear anything more than your current monthly fee.
only disappointment here is : if the "free addon" is really R2, it will only reach a few people :-/
i believe less than 5% players will try the toolkit, and less than 1% will publish their own map.
personally i really enjoy making mod. And i always been worried about sharing with other. This R2 stuff is really something i'll wait more than outpost. an hosting fee is nothing compared of the happiness seeing people enjoying your own made things.
