Outposts in the US
Re: Outposts in the US
One & Only....Legend~
Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a Gingo chasing Mektoub. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just ... do things. The Kami has plans, the Kara have plans, God's got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how, pathetic, their attempts to control things really are.
So.....Why so serious?

we all want outpost Tested properly but SOR Devz should have told us that we would not get Outposts for a long time instead of empty promises that tick players of so much they leave,Numbers on Ryzom are low as it is.
Ryzom could have been a Great game but it seems to be lacking direction ,maybe thats why they are in the trouble it finds its self.
Yeah, Yeah I am well aware of that, i have been playing since release. If you look back to last year and the patch one fiasco what happened was a group of vocal players moaned and moaned on the forums and pushed nevrax into patching the game with ill thought out 'balancing', result was lots of ppl left. Same with rites and mounts as xenofur has mentioned elsewhere; they were patched into game before they were ready at insistence of players, result is lots more problems in stability and underlying code is becoming more and more bugged. Hence the spring clean to try and sort out the mess. So it seems all the whinging about things on the box that aren't in has ironically delayed the process even more.
Don't call me a sap for making a simple statement about the current situation with outposts. Yes lots of things have been said in dev chats/on the box, etc, etc but strangely enough the reality of coding, managing and running a MMOG can be a lot different to what was expected. If people continue to cling onto information from 12 months ago and moan that its not here then they are doing themselves, the community and the dev's a disservice. Yes there is an argument to be made that Nevrax need some work in managing our expectations by also the community has to take a realistic look at the current state of play.
Apologies for lack of punctuation, grammar, etc =)

Re: Outposts in the US
A general question to everyone.
What difference to the day to day game will the addition of outposts make?
How will owning a building change your game?
Will you fight over them every day?
Once you have 'trained' the unique skills, will it make that much difference to what you do next?
Will having an outpost in a location really satisfy you, or will you be back asking can we have more than one (assuming a limit on the number a guild can own)?
I am asking these questions for a reason....
Rites - part implemented, lots of people haven't done them or have done one or two of them. Others are here asking for more.
DP clearing tickets - not yet implemented, time to clear my current max dp of 2.5 mill to 3 mill is about 30 mins or less.
Mounts - No having them was a 'game breaking, I am going to quit if I don't get em subject for ages'. Did these people stay because of them or did they still get bored and go play something else?
Tougher packers - packers still die every day, did having stronger ones make that much difference?
Missions pre-requisites - Have to say this was one of the best additions to the game since release (now we know there are missions, that they are fame/season/level dependant)
Patch 1+++ -
Did it kill harvesting, or is harvesting even more easy to level now than it was before?
To me it seems easier to harvest and gain levels than pre patch 1.
Did it make hunting impossible?
Nope, hunting is great atm.
Changes to the cost of Spells - The community screamed that 50 sp for cold was way too much and the magic tree was wrong.
How many of you casters now have 200+ sp left to spend?
My concern is that a lot of people are hanging their game 'enjoyment' on a single feature.
Yes, outpost will add additonal fun to my game experience, but with or without them I find the game fun. Should the game stop being fun, I don't think outpost would make me stay.
On a general note:
Outpost will be a patched feautre that is part of 'The saga of Ryzom' package, it will be free and as a patch. (unless they send us all new disks).
The next Expansion - we are getting this FREE, sometimes I wonder if this company is a little mad (FREE!!!!) I would pay a £10 for an expansion!
Spring Cleaning - Can you be a little less sneaky please, most of us are grown-ups, we don't mind know that there are 1000 tiny bugs that have existed for ages and have been fixed, but it would be nice to know what they were (Exploits exculded):
I have noticed but not seen notes for:
Team missions
Better structured and more organised welcomer missions for New Players
The fix of the show/hide of HP/Sap/Stam/Focus on the 'h' Player stats.
The addition of a 'pin' on item info.
Loads of 'text' fixes.
and a load of others.
So if they added outposts tomorrow, are you sure it will change your life?

Patch 1 = total disaster , Cosmetics = Broke , Mounts = Broke , Outposts = MIA presumption of death *soon* ? , Rites = Broke , Ryzom ring - too early to comment yet realy but my fear is this will (has?) split ryzoms small team to such an extent that they wont be able to come through with anything , they dont seem to be able to follow their own advice and fix what they have before adding new stuff.
I realy hope i have to eat these words *soon*

Re: Outposts in the US
I love the game, always have done, since the very first beta. I have seen so many changes, good and bad and at times have been frustrated as well. But I'm still playing !!! Personally I have no desire to see anything rushed into the game without it being tested completely and this includes Outposts. I have so many goals left still so don't rush to add more just yet.
If I had spent my time blindly levelling one skill to the max as fast as possible, who knows maybe I would feel differently. I didn't. Jack of All Trades - Master of None, that's me and it allows me to still get fun out of every skill tree.

Re: Outposts in the US
I believe outposts will give being in a guild a whole new meaning. As an individual this won't have much effect. However to be able to really have guild 'goals' concerning finding, maintaining, defending, attacking, receiving outpost bonuses, etc... will definately add more content to the game. How much depends on the outposts themself. Maybe they will get boring after a week. Maybe after 3 months.
I expect a lot of PvP to be included. PvP is one easy way of extending a game's length. Think of all the FPS games like Unreal Tournament and Counterstrike: Making an environment where players can enjoy a game for a long time multiplayer, by fighting each other, on the same maps over and over again, without even having to support the game servers (except authentication perhaps) is incredibly efficient. It will be very hard to keep a steady flow of content to keep older players "busy" without including some PvP stuff (or any other Player interactions for that matter).
So... I think if they tweak PvP a bit more to make it more challenging, tactical and interesting/meaningful without adding more "griefing"-possibilities it will take a big load off Nevrax' shoulders when it comes to the rate they need to add content.

Re: Outposts in the US
"Patch 1 = total disaster"
Quickly fixed and as things are _now_ they are better than pre patch 1.
"Cosmetics = Broke"
Erm... no. They work. We could do with more options though. What's broke is people using a 'cheat' to get the hairstyles etc from the other lands, not designed to work on their character, which, in most cases, look a bit crap.
"Mounts = Broke"
Again, nope, there's one minor and occasional problem with invisible people.
"Outposts = MIA presumption of death *soon* ?"
On the ATS, apparently.
"Rites = Broke"
Nope, they work, just not enough of them and a few _individual_ rites were broken.
"Ryzom ring - too early to comment yet realy but my fear is this will (has?) split ryzoms small team to such an extent that they wont be able to come through with anything , they dont seem to be able to follow their own advice and fix what they have before adding new stuff."
Depends what it is
"I realy hope i have to eat these words *soon*"
Well, you already need to eat most of them, just make sure you leave enough room for pudding

Re: Outposts
There would probably be an interruption in how I play until my guild gets settled in their outpost but that won't change my style of game play all that much. My first mention of this game to my guild was April 14, 2004 to download the beta from fileplanet and yet here it is over a year later I've yet to reach level 131 in melee, elemental and heal. I just got over 150 in forage and can craft 150 LA pants this month. I play all day Saturday and Sunday and most weekday nights from 7 to 10:30. There is just too much to do still.borg9 wrote:... if they added outposts tomorrow, are you sure it will change your life?
