No, I don't think that's true. I think that's a perception. I know of at least one other major MMO out there that was about as "done" as SoR is and had as many bugs when it went live.

I seriously think this is a perception people have, and not a whole truth. SoR isn't any worse or better on its "done-ness" or bugs than most other MMOs.

When i first started to play SOR and reading the Forums i did see many of the Beta testers leave the game after what they felt of being let down by lack of game play for them outpost for one, even then it was to be on the game as it went live but never happend.
The write up's on Ryzom was very bad in PCZone and other mags at the time of live play,Lag was one of the main concerns of the mags tester and if the game could keep players interested long enough to build a good fan base, note though the PC magazine tester did try it on Beta!.
All i seen was 2 issues of advertising in mags and that was it,but i was hooked on Ryzom and played 6-8hrs a day every day.
Then we had the patch that ment if you was a noob on main land you would die if you stepped out of town and a big backlash by players that Devs had to change/mess with the patch to put things right, more left at this time some to WOW Beta i think.
as time went on problems with lag made harvesting & fighting a pain and in the end time on Ryzom for me dropped to 2-3hrs others i talked was not happy but would stick with the game a few more weeks.. a big crash left us with no Guild for a week trying to use Tells for 10+ guild members ment playing the game was not the best.
Then it happend again not long after Guild lost members lost until they logged on at this time i was down to 1hr a day my interest in Ryzom had dropped so much that i now have left the game..every time we had a patch you would wonder what they where going to mess up next...and the fact that the game might not carry on after finding out it could go bankrupt and the fact that outpost had still not been added to the game lack of Events and players going to other games like Guildwars (and me) and only felt like going on for 10min at a time,it was time to pack Ryzom in and move on.
I am not taken a pop at anyone just telling you the reason why i have had enough..i got Bored in the end.
I had an Email the other day from Funcom~Anarchy online Asking me to go back with my old char, credits Ect waiting and 30 days free play time.
but most of all they told me about all the recently added features on the game.
If Ryzom wants to get old players back this is the way to go,telling old players what new features they have would tempt them back(If Ryzom ever gets any that is to brag about )+ free time to get them back in game.

I hope this help in understanding why players/this player gave Ryzom up.
I am sure i will come back if SOR gets its act together & remember the big threat to Ryzoms as a game is Dark&light now in Beta, this could kill SOR only time will tell ...all the best to you all.

He said, I don't have any problem.

Is there a more mocking response than that?

Yes indeed, a more mocking response would be 'not trying very hard are we?' :D

But seriously, ragus are aggro carnivores, and even if they do quite a bit of damage - that's your 'swift introduction' to 'which mobs to avoid' :) I'm 100% sure you can travel the whole of starter island without it happening more than once, if you apply the same care as you would on the mainland :)

Not true for Zora :) Death (puny ragus) awaits just outside starter town but in mainland there is no agro at low lvl zone near Zora.

i too am totally and hoplessly addicted SOR. but this is why i show concern over 1.its furture, 2.the amount or lack of quantity of player on live server at any one given time and 3.the rate of new live content being intriduce

and yes Kostika i will agree with some of what you say as i have only played and seen reviews and comments by other players about a few mmorpg's, so it may very well b a perception :)

i do understand the plans for new content and that there is a "game plan" for the rate it is introduced to the live server, but for most people this rate would b too slow, unlike most players i am not concerned with getting to lvl 250 in most skills in a short space of time and neither am i concerned by the titles that come with such lvls i want to enjoy playing the game and have fun while i am doing so.

but even at the rate i am lvling at there is still not going to b any new live content worth sending a letter home about.

nimbus3,

we all are worried about those things exactly (I am at least).

You're right, but that isn't what I said :) I solo'd most of my time on the Zorai starter isle, and it *is* possible to travel around if you watch what you're doing - just because there is aggro, doesn't mean you can't get past it ;)
