I'd be very interested in a RP-focused guild! I haven't seen much good RP'ing in a multiplayer game since I played online in Neverwinter Nights - and that's not a MMOG, of course :-)

I'm still on the starter island... working to get myself ready for the "big move", so I may not qualify yet to join. But I'm definitely interested when I arrive there, all lost and confused.. heheh...

Sounds cool!

It's hard to play RP in this game, there is no content that provides any RP atmosphere. No quests in game yet, Music is not in the game yet, all NPC's are half DUMB, what RP? You crazy? There wasn't even starting CGI that prepares you for RP mood.

This is very interesting and unique game, but damn how Nevrax have screwed up Role Playing portion of this game... It's even funny that game was released without ANY QUESTS! ... Missions? Yeah go click on that NPC, window will pop up you can click and chose the mission to grind on .. lol.

And still even without quests, NPC communications this game holds your interest. I play this game since last open Beta and what the hell, but I am almost addicted to it. But HOW?? No quests, only 30% of real content in game yet, nothing that could hold you for a while... But it does hold, and I know that the biggest reason is - my guild. I think if there wouldn't be a guild, intersting stanza system, unique monsters .. this game wouldn't last.

I think people are tired of orcs, trolls, wolves and stuff like that.. Ryzom is STILL fantasy world, but like no other MMORPG. And I love it... have to admit that :) .

Hmm.. I see where you're going with that, but it seems that you're thinking along the lines of console-type RPGs where there are lots of "props" and pre-determined plot-points that things are built up around... I could well be wrong on that though.

Unless I'm mistaken, the kind of RP I think is referred to here is that like the old PnP Table-top D&D stuff, where you're starting with little more than a setting, a general plot, and the players' imaginations. There's more to RP than just doing quests and missions and interacting with NPCs.. There's inter-character RP.. You create a personality, a history and even some quirks (which always make them more fun to play, IMO), play your character based on those aspects, and then just let things develop with the other players RP'ing their characters. You'd be amazed the dramas I've seen unfold just through the "human" dynamic in an RP setting, especially when people really play their characters. The players basically create the stories through their characters.

Then, when the content you mentioned in your post is, in fact, added.. that'll just be more icing on the cake :-)

It's a dynamic that I've really missed in other games lately, and it'd be great to see some of that take off in Ryzom...

We'll see, I guess!

Agreed, and Ryzom was never intended to be a game where the story is something dictated to us in the form of static content and players have no impact.

This weekend in Zora saw our first major inter-guild event. The meet the guilds night and fashion show. It might have been tame as a first event, but I think it was very constructive in helping all of us get to know each other. It was also a wonderful opportunity for all Crafters to roleplay and get their names out to people. Not to mention a good chance for many people looking for crafters to get to know the people who make items and what various things look like.

I look forward to when it becomes feasible to have events with other civilizations as well.

Actually Neverwinter Nights was a MMORPG. The first original game was on AOL long before the new game was made. I was on that game for a while and roleplaying before any of the other popular online games ever came out.

Anyway, I am part of OOC guild and I intend to role-play any chance I get.

Hmm.. so there was an AOL version you could have potentially thousands of people at once inhabiting the same world? I'm not familiar with the AOL version you refer to, but I'm talking about the newer PC version from BioWare.. I've never heard of a NwN server hosting thousands of people at once in that version.

*Golden strokes his chin and narrows his eyes*

A Matis only guild. That sound very interesting.

Put my name down Homin.

*nods*

Very interesting indeed.

I'm also very interested in joining/starting a Matisian Role Playing guild. I'm still a youngin' (37 is highest skill) but I'd be happy to chip in dapper with whomever to get one started.

I'm ***** in game and am generally on 8 PM -12 AM Eastern, and sporadically on weekend days. Please give me a shout if you have or want to start an RP Guild. ^^
