Get rid of the different colorsaylwyne wrote:We (Ballistic Mystix) are currently working on a comprehensive armor gallery. We're starting with Tryker armor and will work our way out from there. We should have Tryker done later today and I'll post a thread with the link to it.
But to get back to the original question of why there isn't a comprehensive gallery, let's consider armor....
4 armor types (light/caster/medium/heavy)
3 grades (basic/medium/high)
8 colors (beige/purple/green/turquoise/blue/red/black/white)
2 sexes (do i have to spell this out?)
4 races (tryker/zorai/fyros/matis)
4*3*2*8*4 = 768 individual pictures
That's 768 pictures for ONE angle on ONE avatar. If you want to do front/back, that's 1536 pictures. If you want to do front/back on each of the 4 races, that's 6144 images.
And, if you're curious, that's 29952 mats.
It's not impossible by any means, but it's certainly a daunting task to make a truly comprehensive set of images, as we at BM have discovered. We are taking a shot at it and should have something to show for it soon.
I love this idea, and had discussed something similar in guild awhile back but didn't follow up... If you were going to stay with one race for each of them to cut down on the volume of pics required, I'd suggest a Matis male model and a Fyros female model, each of average build for their races (i.e. no slider bars all the way to an extreme - ahem - smile). Using a median example of one of the medium-proportioned races should minimize the difficulty in extrapolating what the same armor might look like on your avatar. Alternately, perhaps using models of the same race as the pattern would be good, as they were designed with the proportions of that race in mind. Just throwing some ideas out there, maybe one or two will sticksystemv wrote:Wait till you guys see it... it's pretty amazing. Rak/Osh/Soma worked their bodoc's off getting all the mats.
Personally I think one race wearing all the stuff should be sufficient, there isn't much difference with the others (just size).
not exactly. caster is only for pants. while light/medium/heavy change appearance on all parts, if someone is in caster pants, the rest of thier outfit will be repeated from the 3 main weight classes. (usually in light armor) although I don't really know what you can do about that. it's usually nice to see how the caster pants go with the rest of the outfit.aylwyne wrote:We (Ballistic Mystix) are currently working on a comprehensive armor gallery. OH GOD YES!!!emdawg wrote:Wow, thats great, I've been hoping someone would do this for a while now.
I put in an a suggestion with the in-game support tools a while back to have 3D previews of weapons and armor at the merchants to help us shop (similar to cosmetics merchants).
If something like that were to get implemented, it could speed up the process of creating the armor gallery, and perhaps make the thousands of combinations more realistic to include, since you could get alot of the images just by visiting your local armor merchant. One can hope...
