So here's my question. I've done some experimenting, and as far as I can tell there's no up side to having a bowrifle over a regular rifle. Is that correct?

Using the same type of mats a rifle and a bowrifle have the same stats, except that the bowrifle is heavier, and takes more mats to make. Likewise, their ammo is the same, except the bowrifle ammo has few bullets per clip and uses more mats. Is there any reason at all to use a bowrifle instead of a regular rifle?

except one thing, tetra had his head stuck so far up his own arse he was breathing farts

he's got no clue about ranged combat nor how well it actually can perform. all his "debates" were just him saying it sucked and then ignoring anything else anyone said that proved him wrong

so if you want to find out about range, try it out for yourself

as for the bowrile, i think it has longer range but i'm not sure, i know there are a few differences, i'd call and ask my friend but he's working now but he's raised his range up pretty far and could tell you

I have just started making range weps and have reached q100 now. I am amazed that there are few weps which are enchanted with stun or root. I am shooting baying gingos by :- shoot, root, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, root etc.
You get the idea. I can get 3k from a baying gingo solo & I am lvl 46 I think range fighter. Watch out tho if the first root doesn't take. You might need a rusty old sword at hand to finish it.
Need plenty of crystals as well. I think it takes 160 or more per root.

That is the hard way to kill them imo. I always ran up to the edge of my weapons range and got there attention with a shot and ran back to a safe spot the whole time firing at them. Ilthor called it the "Airport stip" stanza. :)

Works pretty good.

If you want use enchantments, you can use nuke enchantment to drop mob to 10% hp and finish it off with ranged and get full ranged xp. Saves some ammo too. IMO, pretty lame though.

c) no but it's comparable to melee
a good 1h sword has more hpm than a supreme pistol with Hitrate +6 stanza added, melee does more damage, allows you to wear more armor without draining yourself as much, no ammo used etc etc.... My Opinion : Comparable with CC, hand to hand while you're at it
You guys are a joke, do you not experiment with anything? i have a launcher with _60m_

Anyone tried to make a ranged fighter from scratch and able to stand on there own feet?

Be tempted to try this and keep a diary but a bit pushed for time and not keen on low level harvesting again.

Think its fair to say any skill except healing can be soloed if you have other skills at a much higher level or team with people who don't mind you being less efficent (than say using your spot for another ele, mele etc). Judging by feedback from nevrax certain skills are just there for fun alternatives but they did say range should be a comparable main skill (unlike unarmed and i guess 1h staff fighter)

that said in a Q&A ranged fight fixes were planned after spring clean and outposts, however the extension is the next content patch after those two so no idea whats going on, time for a new Q&A post me thinks :)

I've also gotten 11 hpm onto a launcher, with 59.5 range, i dont wanna waste too many sup mats on a experimental launcher though

As already mentioned, levelling ranged as a secondary skill is easy, but then so is anything else. If you're level 150 or whatever in melee, then levelling ranged is easy. Starting from scratch and levelling ranged would be near to impossible IMO.

Having said that, ranged to me is much more fun than any other combat skill, and trying out different recipes for rifles is fun too. I'm currently at 90/92 speed/range on my rifles, and aiming (excuse the pun) for 100/100 if it's possible.

Oh, and for my money, the Tryker rite reward rifle is the coolest ranged weapon, but it's a bit boring being plain brown. It really needs to be a nice glossy black or something :)
