the forum has all the users of the game, find the person with the highest userid and you know how many accounts there are (the forum userid is in the link when you click on someone's username)
it's over 37000 somewhere, now you just need to count the posts where someone leaves the game :p

43181 registerd forum peeps.

Confirmed through the addition of the Jessica Mulligan post. I am guessing she is the newest. :D

Does every trial account get a forum login though? Also, I have heard that many many people walked away after patch 1. To me, that would be cut this number in maybe half, and then you would need to do some kind of 60%/3 thing to come up with something reasonablly accuarate.

It would seem the guild site by uilopoa would be able to accomlish a good count of the number of people guilded by server.

Noin.

Thank you for your votes, m8s. It seems that are 1000-2000 players. Well, not that bad, but is far under aspectations speaking in terms of profit, rentability and money.
Again, thank you for your time and vote.

Yep - now we have a completely random statistic on the number of players in the game ... we can all decide that there is no hope for the future and go play something else.

:( I did not wanted to sound that way.

PS But if you ask me, we need a PB (playerbase) bigger than 10k players.

The winning result was 1000-2000. Let's say we have 1500 players in all servers together. Let's assume that population is divided equally between servers. This gives us 500 players at Ariostopotle.

We got 79 answers. If we consider number inactive voters or voters from other servers as insignificant, we will see that almost 16% of players responded to this vote.

Pretty good percentage considering how many players seem to lurk at forums or would be exptected to bother about polls.

:)

Edit: Recent transgender play poll got overwhelming 31.2% poll turnover...

Not to be grim, but if you ask me, we need a playerbase bigger than 40k players. Some titles have been known to be cancelled that couldn't make that mark.

If you look at it from another point of view:

Last open beta they had over 250.000 registered accounts.
I'd say about 2%-5% of those players actually bought the game, wich brings us way over the 1500 mark stated here.

Another way of viewing it is like this:

During the first wave of closed beta (december 2003) 500 players were invited. Only one terretory was open (so we had only 1/5th of the space). We were all low level, just hanging around the main towns. Well with 500 players .. it feels like 0. You could stand at a spawnpoint for 2 hours and not meet anyone ...
So, 500 players for each server, very unlikely. Based on the people I see around, I can compare that to known populations of the closed beta, and it feels like 4000-6000 players on Aristople allone. I think most closed beta players would agree (or fbt players - fbt had 1500 testers).

A MMO of this setup needs between 15 and 20K paying subscibers to survive. Every subscriver after this is profit for about 75% of the fee a player pays.

Dont forget that *many* active players have two accounts...
