EQ2 just announced today that they will have a server where the people who want to buy/sell accounts can play. They are also now going to start acting as the middleman (and charge a percentage fee) for this process.

I was subscribed to the station had an active account in EQ2 and SWG. As of today I have cancelled everything because of this. If Ryzom starts to allow the selling of characters and items I will cancel my subscription also. There is no reason why anyone should be able to get anything in a game by buying it in real life. People should play the game.

If you play the game and enjoy it, tell people. Tell them why you love it.

.
This is SO untrue..

I have no friends that are even remotely interested in online games.
And the immense marketing campaign of WoW really gave them a lot of subscribers. If you dont market your game you wont get customers..

Its as simple as that

I think i will never start an other online game that doesnt do their marketing right.. It really hurts once I am into the game and the foresight is that the game can be canceled within 2 or 3 months bcos of a lack of subscribers..

This is the second time... EnB was the first.. same thing

Hmm, methinks Neun wasn't saying 'word of mouth replaces advertising' :) Nothing hits an audience as big as targeted advertising, but then nothing costs as much as targeted advertising. I agree word-of-mouth is one of the most powerful advertising routes, and I have first-hand experience of that.

Word-of-mouth is more 'effective' than standard advertising. Magazines contain adverts with bullet points, handpicked screenshots and short sentences ending in exclamation marks!! Word of mouth brings a true perspective on a product, one that isn't prepared by a marketing person, and which can be questioned and queried. With media advertising, you get what you can fit within the media in question, and you pay an arm and a leg for it.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Neun :)

Question could you wear a tee-shirt and get on a video?

From a business point of view, if I was working for Nevrax (which I don't)

Get the 'Spring Clean' sorted.
Get the free expasion sorted.

Then GO GO GO marketing.

We have a great base game, need more for the existing players, not the new ones.
We have a GREAT community.
We have a GREAT support team.

When the time is right, they will push this game like mad.

Till then, we have to hang in there.
