Jackoba - I hate to say this but I am the Matis branch of CO. I wanted access to the Guild forum to discuss this & other issues but this was opposed by CO. Makes it difficult to organise events don't you think?
The purpose of this guild though was to be purely for the benefit of the foragers and thus the crafters that operate in situations where their party would be too small to defend against even medium agro. I was with Drafly behind the KoD North border fort trying to dig for normal choice mats (but only as high as q150) and we were killed 3 or 4 times in less than an hour. If we were digging it took too long to change to attack mode & of course we don't wear armour. Eventually I stood guard while Dra foraged. Dra has a whopping 1.5 mill DP and it keeps her from coming on regularly. If we had the backing of others in similar circumstances how much safer & more productive it would be. Not just one day a week but regularly. We would also be able to explore for better mat sources & not have Kami ill will on our heads.

Ron said that he would give me the password but restricted what I could address in the forum. He also said that there was opposition to this.
I did not want to rake over old coals so told him that I would wait untill the leader Fuchuan approved.
None of this however really has anything to do with the initial question and I will address it in game. Give me a 'tell' Spriteh and we will chat.
I realise that Omnis does good work in promoting help for the foragers but it is rather infrequent. I want to know if there is a dedicated need for a forage/crafters guild where the mats & the craft take precedence on a daily basis.

back on topic then
its an idea but it might suffer from the fact that most good diggers/crafters are already guilded
this gives them an opportunity to step out of the diggin for 2 hours and hunt a little. not many people I know can harvest and craft day in day out and if they do they are very greatly loved by the guilds they are already in.
then you have a percentage of them same players who dont want to craft OOG and dont want the hassle of players nagging them
I would love it if there was something like you say but I'm guessing for the members of this guild it would be more like a job and less like a game

Thanks Jacoba, point appreciated. However, the purpose of this post was to find out if there were any such dedicated 'workers' ingame who needed this facility.
I also expected ideas about perhaps forming an Association of artisans and maybe a web page that could unite us in our common goals. I don't have the skills for a web page and thus suggested a temp or permanent guild structure as a possible solution. I am worried that the Kami tolerance is crucially limiting our harvesting in the common areas where these mats are found. We need new & possibly innovative digging grounds & could share this info in a common structure.

Alyssah, I would love to help. n.n
I actually enjoy foraging for long period of hours and made FF my new home. I've been foraging in FF during Winter and Spring and have easily avoided aggro. Not hard, once ya get used to it, I presume (you have to since Dyron is dangerous now. xD).
I believe an Assocaition of some sort along with a simple but detailed website would do the trick. It would appeal to most since most harvesters wouldn't have to leave their guild.

This looks like a resounding no. Its seems as if most harvesters are content with the Guild support or their own efforts, not to need the kind of help or dedication that a new organisation would produce. That at least answers the question. Thank you all for your contributions, long may your digging be appreciated.
I am aware that many Guilds are very supportive of their artisans, not least the Samsara & Clan Omnis to name but a few and hope that your feelings of achievement reward your efforts.
In a day or so I will ask Lawrence to close this thread but in the meantime if any of you wish to submit your names as definately wanting to join/form an artisan guild then it might alter my current view.
Thank you

Decided to level RP as second branch. I am still very low @52 there and i can grind in more or less safe areas. But later it is going to be dangerous. Still leveling my ele as prerequisite for PR digging but this is not much without a second person who heals or ress you.
A dedicated guild migth be very complicated. But i can see no problem in forming forager teams like we do with hunter teams in region. We also could open a sticky thread where interested harvesters can post and show their will to cooperate.
Anyways, whenever you see my name in /who PR feel free to ask for team. It ll be appreceated all time

Your ideas are solid, hard to go that way with a guild though. We decided and started our guild based on the very foundation you suggested (and other goals of course). We started with and remain with a core of folks from Open Beta/FBT and a plan...
Execution, even with like minded folks is just not very easy. We do have a good amount of high level harvesters, and strive to keep our crafters working. Even with this everyone wants to have fun as well, and you have to mix your time among the things that make you happy. We have folks that are not totally onboard with the plan... but for the most part we all understand that helping to supply our crafters is high on our list of priorities, whether it be thru harvested mats or thru hunt mats.
In all honesty, even with a guild of many harvesters the only time we have actually done similar to what you described was during the invasion. We then had our damage dealers clearing a hole for us, so we could come in behind and harvest the kitin secretion. They then stood guard while we dug to aid in supplying our NPC army (which aided later in defeating the kitin invaders).
As solid as this plan is to see the value of, it is much harder to organise a new group to do this as many new folks just wanna see/do everything. As long as there are items on the market or available, it's hard for folks to see the value in being able to get everything you need from your own guild.
