well thanks for the replies everyone... After a few more hours of playing, here are my impressions on the game -
I started off as a mask-person (dont know what they are called) I quickly left the newbe island, and i wager im doing fine, progressing along the main newbe quest: getting cubes of knowledge or whatnot.
The landscape is beautiful, but not being able to jump is really annoying, i feel as though im playing KOTOR (if theres a small ledge the char just stops and you have to find a way around it). I'd like to be able to jump, or at least go up small ledges, since going around in a city could be a little tricky.
the quests; I have to appologize here but i really think they need to be worked on. When i started, there was very little help available.
1. the newbe island didnt have any vet players in it to answer questions.
2. the interface is pretty simple, but a tutorial would have been very helpful.
3. quests are very tedious - i must be missing something... I have to find an npc named "Feng-shu Du" in "fen-lai" and give him a report. so i look in the map for Fen-lai, find it, go there, and then I have to run around looking at every npc's names to find "feng-shu Du"... I spent 30 minutes this morning trying to find that darnit npc ... there is no indicator in the radar, or the map, so its like finding a needle in a haystack.
But the harvesting is really ingenious - i have to admit its the best system for harvesting in all the mmo's ive played... its quite fun and i like having the danger element to it.
I also think there are far too many npc's running around towns. I understand they are trying to make the game populated, but having 50-60 npcs called "Zhen-Du Lai" or "San-Feng zhang" walking around just slows my system down and makes things a little confusing.
well, i'll keep playing the game - i gave up on the quests though (if im missing something please let me know!).
Cheers, looking forward to seeing you ingame

Re: Greets, new player here
Actually, your comments are very insightful, especially for a new player. The quest system currently is awful. Harvesting can be fun, but after awhile......hijii wrote:well thanks for the replies everyone... After a few more hours of playing, here are my impressions on the game -

Re: Greets, new player here
To find a Npc you could typing in any channel /target (name) no paranethies
or right clicking on your compass and selcted missions and find the npc's name
and if all else fails try asking someone if they know where.
P.S. I agree to many Npc's, espicall on the norrow bridges in Fair haven, capital of tryker
or right clicking on your compass and selcted missions and find the npc's name

Re: Greets, new player here
For a two or 3 word name you need to surround the name with double quotes.sunew wrote:To find a Npc you could typing in any channel /target (name) no paranethies

For example: /target "Sicha Pelli"
or
/target "Scampering Capryini"
If you use just the first word it will wild card the rest
ex: /target Scampering
Will target a mob that starts with Scampering.
Hope this helps too.

Re: Greets, new player here
The type of npc depends on the type of message. I think report is captain or sergeant. Random NPCs are never involved in quests.

hmm... so WHY are there so many random npcs?
Re: Greets, new player here
The idea was probably to create a sense of bustle and realism. Ironically the effect for many people is to remove realism.hijii wrote:hmm... so WHY are there so many random npcs?

They like to watch us have siezures while running through town.
Re: Greets, new player here
One handy hint, city/camp mission NPCs have titles and stand in the same spot.
What I do when I arrive to a new town/camp is to mark all these NPCs on the map.
The "fun" part are the wandering NPCs (the all have titles too), some move around a lot other are practically the same place. But over time you get a fell of where they are.

The best way I have found to find a wandering NPC is set your Radar to 250, look for the white dots, and run around till you find em.
