Its totally independant on what you do either. It happens if you are casting, running, harvesting, or just standing around.

The usual way it happens is you start to move / act very slow, then a few connection errors appear in a very fast succession, more like a blinking for 5-6 times, then you are still slowed but with speed picking up slowly again.

will second that, when it does lag, everyone lags

Have to agree with Sky here :P

Getting lag spikes at random intervals from 6pm GMT - 7pm GMT ....

Wasn't action dependant, I was casting off, healing, caring, prospecting and digging on and off for this hour. Oh and standing/sitting chatting.

All guild were have the same spikes, in different regions (PR/Trkyer/Matis)

All were non fatial to the running of the game, some homins were injured tho :P

Could it be mob spawn related, they have been behaving differently recently :o

If this lag continues, expect starting lose paying customers. A lot. This is no childish threat, it is a fact.

I can't understand why CS doesn't notice any lags. Lag affects usually almost everyone. I have seen couple of lag spikes when 1 or 2 guild members are not affected.

There have been two types of lags recently.

I call the more common one as slowmotion. All movement and actions are in slow motion. This happens now many times during day. It usually takes minute or two and then it is back ok, but slowmotion may return in one minute again.

Second one is breaking connections and usually whole team experiences it. Most likely most in guild too. Connection window will go to fast cycle of FS Lost/Stalled -> Proble -> Synchronizing and this will continue for minute or two. Again, same problem may come back again too soon.

Both of these problems may be symptoms of same thing in the end.

These kind of lags started to take place every day like 2 weeks ago (can't remember exactly). Maybe after some patch.

Mobs seem to be equally lagging, so I very much suspect server problems. If not, maybe problem with hosting company Internet connections (maybe only international connections?).

Lag/slowmotion/break/lost connection/probe thing around 9:15 am GMT this morning in Grove of Confusion.

And I'm sorry about the foul language i used in my first post in this topic but this is going on for 2 or more weeks now, its just no fun gaming with these lag/slowmotion moments :(

no it is not a fact :p and I think threatning your supplier of fun with loss of income is rather weird...

and yes the lag spikes are bad but as it does not happen verry regularly it is hard to pinpoint what causes it. lets wait and see what happens, it does not make it unplayable ... yes it is irritating and can kill you sometimes... nothing is perfect ;)

The lag will go away in a few days.. dont think this game is screwed because it startet to lagg some after a patch, it has done before, and ben solved before.. they prob did a lil mistake, have no fear. They will fix it, give them a few days.. The game normally runns smooth..

Even WoW has temporary probs, like recently when dungeon instances goes offline every day :P So dont think Ryzom is the only game that has trouble.

lawrence wrote:Hi everyone

I've checked with our technical staff and we are not aware of any server-side or network-related lag or performance issues. We've been watching the Server closely throughout the past few days after receiving the first reports, and the performance has been within the boundaries at normal levels.

But we won't just be ignoring your reports, so I'd like to ask you to inform our CS immediately when you experience these lag issues again, and provide them with more detailed information as to when and where exactly they occur - Information that would be useful to us would be..where in the game world you are, what you've been doing at that time in-game (i.e. fighting a specific boss mob in a specific zone), where you play from and which ISP (Internet Provider) you use, to help us trace the cause of this problem.

As I already reported ingame (but I guess csr isn't aware of it for some reason):

- A lag spike seems to occur every hour, it seems to be server side lag, since everyone is hit by it. It seems the server runs a sortof hourly update or backup or something, but a timed service seems to be causing it.
The lag occurs someware around the hour (eg: 9:00, 10:00, ...). There is some variation in it, wich could be caused by the current server load or the number of people connected, but it allways occurs between 0 and 10 minutes past the hour.
- Here is what exactly happens: A "please wait" window pops up for about 0.5 sec. The game slows down by 50%-75% for about 0.5 min to 2-3 min and then it runs normal again for about an hour. The lag started to occur after latest patch.

I hope this helps a bit

The "fast oscillating" pelase-wait is somehow new. I checked last two times the network. It is that ping suddenly raises up to 4k+. This seems to cause a interuption of the connection.

Problems like high load on servers should not affect the ping that much. A server with extreme high load on cpu and harddrive can easily have a very low ping.

I do not know how the shards are build, but i guess there is a main server and one or more AI servers. Under normal circumstances one would think that the "public" server has one interface for customers and one interface to communicate with the AI.

Assuming this, there are only tree posibillities. High network load by customers or high network load by "foreign activities". And last high load by tracing tcp packets for cheats.

I have already lost many friends due to bugs/problems hindering gameplay. If this would be only big problem in this game, it would be fine. When this problem is added to countless of other issues we are seeing, some ppl get enough of it all and quit. I can understand them fully.

Some ppl here are suggesting that we get fix in matter of days. This have been continuing two weeks and CS staff has not even noticed it.

P.S. I am not leaving, but I would hate to see friends leaving.

It's been like this for weeks, while it doesnt make the game unplayable it's certainly removing my incentive to try stuff because the games liable to grind to a crawl at just the wrong momment.

Add to this the fact that i've collected double dp and had no respawn options due to lag related issues (according to a csr) and you can see why people might start to drift out of game.

call it old man syndrome, ryzom 60 years from now.. can you craft me a ql 200 zimmer frame plz... or ryzom on a saga holiday...
