*ignores last two useless posts*

I don't know there legal issues with guides, I was a guide in EQ, we just had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, same agreement basically that they had for closed beta, nothing much different.

Guides in EQ are all volentary, maybe french laws says they have to pay everyone who is employed, and they can't use volentary people?? I dunno, either way the company only goes by French law, so its not a USA legal issue at all.

As far as training, Takashi opted out of onsite training, he denied his right to fly to the conference and get it, so now we the players on our server are suffereing? I don't think thats the case.

Well only the gm's and event people know why were lacking on our server.
Bout all I expect we shall see is some lame short appology for lack of events do to lack of help or something like that.

I'd do events all the time if I had the tools, wether or not they paid me.

Its a completely american legal issue that includes the fact that a major mmo had to shell out about $1000 per guide in "back pay" after they messed up the contracts. (i forget the actual numbers but it's around this forum somewhere from when people complained the first time)

Edit:

*shakes his head in dismay*
Guides, in America can be VOLENTARY, as in NO PAY, regarless of any arguement you try to come up with, again, like I said, I was a Volentary GUIDE in EQ, no pay.

It is NOT AMERICAN LAW stopping them from hiring guides, it is FRENCH LAWS that govern anything they do, and everything they pay for, including personel.

You can bang on that till your blue in the face if you want, it has nothing to do with America, never has, never will.

French employees are a different issue than american volenteers.

Actually in Earth and Beyond they wouldn't let people volunteer to do things either.

Hey any hints to what the tools are? *wink wink nudge nudge*

What abilities did they get with these new toys, I really really want to know.

Hey would it be ok if we "volunteer" to help the EM out? though we are not officially "guides"?

Find in any law book, a law, regarding volentary work for a company to give in game customer events / scripts / volentary help.

Go ahead.

There is no precidence for it at this time, none, zip, zilch, zero.

The only grounds you need to follow is company rules on the non-disclosure agreements, all the spew you been doing Sprite on this suggests you have never had a volentary job before.

Sony Online Entertainment has hundreds of volentary guides from around the WORLD, with NO issue, do to 1 piece of non-disclosure agreement, thats it.

There is no mericale to it, there is nothing special about it, there is no "he's a gm see his name, he knows more than you do" about it.

Apparently, your also not understanding that they don't NEED to use American's to support American server, they can use any GUIDE that is in France by French laws on the American server.

The lack of guides is NOT do to the laws on using Americans as guides, its company issues with using guides on our server, nothing more, and there is nothing the GM's can argue about that otherwise, because nothing they say as excuse will be deemed worth while.

The company can decide to open up the US servers to the current guides they have working for them and allow them to use the US servers.

Aparently Sprite, you haven't put much thought into this other than try to say that no matter what I say, its 100% wrong, sometimes this boggles the mind, othertimes it just demands more icecream.

Currently there excuse is that American Laws are harder to work with when hiring American Guides for the American Servers, well, frankly, who cares, just hire more French Guides and have them support the American Server.

Also, Klient, we have seen, heard from and talked to other GMS on there from other servers, if it was against French law for them to help the American players like the French Guides would, then they would have them off the Klient software also, correct?

In my opinion, humble as it may be, I don't think theres enough people in this community for Nevrax to really care about Windermeer--I mean, they have so many more people on the other servers.

This also affects player-planned events. For instance, my guild, Ballistic Mystix, held a St.Patrick's day parade on Thursday. We handed out free green armor and such, and even composed some RP story about some Tryker licking a Yelkshroom (see Rakujitsu for details ;) ). Anyways, there was nobody to watch the parade, since there was only about 10 people actually in the liberty lake region, and they were all participating in the parade.

In conclusion, I think this lack of players does a lot of damage to the events, per say. I realize there's not much we as a community can do about it, other than tell our friends about this cool....pretty cool....uneventful game.

P.S.--I would prefer not to get totally flamed for this post if you don't like what I said.
