For example, I have: "Raw Material Source [Enfinity]"
you get same result by simply
/target Raw

In the interest of "macro learning" you can also accomplish this "/target Raw" through a macro. You can create a new macro - Follow Enfinity's directions for this
Then select "Chat"
Select "Talk to Anybody"
Select "Say"
And enter for your text "/target Raw"
complete your macro as stated by Enfinity.
The /target command is special as it automatically puts a 'wildcard' on the end of the string that you are attempting to target, thus matching anything that starts with that string. (i.e. /target Destroyer ) If you have a multiple word target you must use Quotes " " as noted by Enfinity. (i.e. /target "Destroyer Rendor")
Any slash command can be turned into a macro as is noted above.
ex. (/who)

/Raw
a comment with this.
If you have a player near by with the name of say, "RawMeat", who's closer to you than the source, you'll select the player instead

LOL, I seriously hope there's not a player with that name...
If so...I hope you have good taste.

Yah I did that first, but I have a bad habit of letting my sources expire because I became distracted. /target Raw then targets the source of your friendly digging neighbour and you run all across Thesos to dig his source...
Maybe not a bad thing since you will be giving him xp, but anyways...

I did find yet another option while implementing this fix. If you set the macro with multiple commands, one command for each type of mat your lookign for, you can accomplish this with one macro and one key.
Because I am digging for mats for swords only I have my macro set to target:
Node [Vareshenkd]
Fiber [Vareshenkd]
Shell [Vareshenkd]
Bark [Vareshenkd]
And its not eay to find any of these mats in one prospection, at least I havent done so yet. But, even if you should, those were the kind of mats you wanted in the first place.
If you really dont care what mat you get, set up the macro for those listed above as well as Sap, Seed, Wood, Oil, Amber, and Resin. This is, of course, only if you are using Knowledge. With all types of mats being targeted you have just set a key to do what front target enemy did for you.. except it wont target those pesky critters that just cant keep their noses away from you and your forage sources.
I dont know how many times I slaughtered all the bodocs within the vicinity just to keep them away from me.....

Make a macro for the selection.

You're all set
You realy do not need to do a macro for this
you can get a way with just defining a new key under "K"
basically same procedure as the macro soloution...
Go to "K"eys
1. Add New Key
2. Category: Actions
3. Action: Target an entity.
4. Entity's Name: Raw Material Source
5. KEY: Alt-Space
you now can use alt-space to target ..

Ooo that's a good thought, spamming all the stuff you might want in the macro selection, and it will nab the first one that matches on the list, I'm guessing (or actually, probably the last).
Actually there is a downside with the macro selection of sources, as compared to the old space-select... the macro version won't pick the closest source. In fact, it seems to more often than not pick one furthest away, when I've been using it. However, I fixed that by shortening the throw of my standard prospection (when digging in fields I know well) to 5m... that way, *all* the sources I pop will be close, so it won't much matter which one gets selected

keoni wrote:The targeting problem led me to come up with an additional element to your macro solution... in addition to using the same means to target the source, I add "run shortcut 20" (my basic harvest action) to the macro. So... one keystroke & I target a source and go running towards it to dig.
there is an additional way to bypass the targeting problem, use prospecting for specific mats and drop extracting for specific mats.
simple.

Hmmm...if you can do this, can you just set the key: SPACE?
