After all... it is tax season. Come April 15th... accountants with nothing better to do will mob the servers, yet keep accurate figures on their dappers, players active, and amounts of times people curse from seeing a "weather" message whilst prospecting. Be warned people. Fear the oncoming accountant waves!

April 15th,
get your caculator ready!

figgybee, if you're ever bored, shoot me a tell cause frankly... I'm never bored.

How about a coordinated event. Through the assistance of a few guilds, I am sure we could place 1 character in each zone and do a synchronized /who or very close to synchronized at least. We could do it at 2 or 3 times a day for a week. This would give a fairly clear picture of the server population. I will pledge the support of OmegaV in this effort.

I agree though, the accountant influx will be deafening.... I can see the paper trails following behind them. Maybe after the initial event, we could schedule a monthly repeat of the event for a single day only. To be fair, we could not announce the date(s) of the event.

We could then post the annoynmous(datewise) numbers for everyone to consume. Maybe after this Nevrax would realize that everyone playing wants more population, not less, and give us the information more regularly by themselves.

I do /who quite often for the same reasons given.

In Liberty Lake (Arispotle server) I have seen a minimum of about 8 and a max that was around 70~80. Fount is at a constant ranging from 3 to 20 depending on time of day, very popular digging area's Like Dyron double.

I am playing this game since October and I can only see a rising line.

The thing that surprises me is that the US forums have four time as many posts as the EE, but 10 times as much negativity. I rather think one should think about that before using the /point at Nevrax...

Dang, we Yanks need to go to the EE forums and wake you guys up! Come over and enjoy the party! Not sure about 10 times the negativity. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the pond. Nice of you to come over to US forum and add to the negativity (does your 390+ post count include all the forums or just the NA forum??).

It definitely seems that we don't have the player base that the EE servers do, as far as numbers go (based on what you posted). I think there has been two times when the /who list stretched the length of my screen. Maybe the forums are pushing people away... but I don't think so. I never let a critic decide for me whether to go to see a movie. I might have agreed with him/her afterwards but it was never a deciding factor in my going. But if I log in and the people I spent the last 6 months leveling with aren't on... then I feel like I was the only one that didn't get the invitation to the Spring Dance. But then I spam them with instant messages until they log in and all is right as rain again.

Since I play on the same server and use /who for self-preservation (rez me, rez me!) when harvesting, I don't see the same.

For popular areas, I've seen Liberty Lake often around 5 or 10 people for hours at a time and the only time I've seen more than 30 or so has been during events. Dunes of Exile (Dyron) can often have like 20, but I've also played where I was the only player there (that was fun!) The real ghost town is Cities of Intution, where even during peak hours I rarely see more than 6 or 8 homins and late at night it's often completely empty. Remote higher level areas are also often empty, but that's less of a reflection on server population than it is on content and high level players.

From what I've seen numbers have stabilized, but I wouldn't call them increasing by any means and are certainly at a level well below that pre-patch 1.

Also, keep in mind we get all the trial accounts on EE, which boosts our stats dramatically. It's one of the reasons why I try to really help out newbies in the hope that they stay (although I'd prefer if they not become fanbois.)

I miss the OB server crash test where it really felt like there were thousands online. That was fun. I also remember the first couple weeks of live on newbie island where there were 30 or 40 people at a time. Amazing the difference that makes in playing.

But none of us including myself really know what the subscription numbers are like, and its really not worth speculating about them. Either Ryzom makes it or it doesn't, and there's not a lot we can do besides encouraging Nevrax towards better customer service to retain players.

My more ACCURATE method of finding accurate server population, find as many players as there are regions (meaning areas that come up with a different /who info database), form a guild with this group to get into a chat (not practical...but better than trying tells), get ONE person PER region and type "Ok, in three...two...one...NOW *hit enter* *hit /who macro button* and then count the names...including self. NOW you have your ACCURATE count.

Why would the run from region to region thing NOT work....well other players are logging ON and OFF, zoning from or porting from region to region. SO...by the time you GET (loading...please wait) to the next region...how many inaccuracies are already in your figures?

I apologize, it seems RL got me irritated and made me make silly posts.

The 390+ is because I have a job where I can do what I like as long as the work is done. Quite often this means posting on forums, including the Ryzom ones.

The reason for the US forumspostings is that things happened here yesterday while EE was silent...

/who would get you almost nothing as it doesn't work per continent or even per map, it works per zone-grid, where a grid is the zone you are in plus a bunch of others surrounding them (ex.: pyr+4ways)
you'd have to get at least 20-30 people per continent to do a who at exactly the same time, while being spread in an overlapping pattern
good luck ^^

Are you sure about that, xenofur? I've always thought it was the zone(dew drops, bounty beach, liberty lake, etc.) as that's what the titles are when you do a /who.

I'll test it tonight.

afaik the kamibar works the same. See in Dyron where you can walk to teh reson spot and have a bar that has 90% and on the shores a bar that is, well, almost empty ;-)
