I'm aware of the term final solution used by the nazi's but it did not cross my mind that it was used in the context for naming a guild. So overall I cannot see a problem with it.

Its not as if the called themselves "SS-Totenkopfverbande" or anything :)

good luck to the new guild anyway

Also Odhinn, Oku-Thor and Njord are a "trinity" for some scholar.

The therm "Trinity" is usually referred to the Christian one. At last more often than "The Final Solution" to the second world war.
I see "The Final Solution" more often in game faqs.

This is by far the most interesting conversation topic I have read on this board thus far =)

I didn't know that TFS refers to the Holocaust. I am almost certain that Jesse doesn't know about it either. I think she meant it to be a pun on a guild situation and the problem she was having, and the final solution the problem is forming the new guild).

Okees, so mayhap the term is less common knowledge than I would have thought. Also, let me elaborate a bit:

As I said, the guild name squicks me out - that is to say, it makes me go "ewww, bleah, urk" and such-like, in my little carrot-top homin head. I'm not sayin' that they should change the guild name, I'm not sayin' (by any stretch of the imagination) they're bad folks. I'm just stating how I feel about it, and why I feel that way, with no need or expectation that anyone should feel the same.

That's all.

When the name for the guild was chosen none of the members were even thinking about WW2 or nazis. It was just the final solution to several issues. But to those that found offense we are sorry none was intended. But also before you sound off about history and "The Final Solution" go back and study some more please and you will find most killings and wars are related to religions. And the name "the trinity Circle of Light" can carry such ill feelings and thoughts by those that see the name. Sorry but I had to rant just a bit when I read one of the posts here. Those that have teamed and chatted with us know that we are here playing for fun and we do not "gank" other players and we are helpful and good natured. We push no point of view of manner of play. We just play.

Man, everyone chill.

Let's not start bashing each other's guild names. Nuff negativity on the NA forums as it is. I don't find anything offensive about the guild name The Final Solution or Circle of Light, and I am a big history buff especially on wars and different religions. In fact, I have yet to come across an offensive guild name. The GMs, Admins and Nevrax in general have done a good job at squelching offensive names whether it is a player's character name or a guild's name. They would ask someone to change the name if it was offensive or vulgar.

Lankin, I would like to say congrats on the new guild and wish your leader Jesse and you bunch the best of luck. If you ever in the desert, stop by Joe's have a dog, a pint and listen to some good blows on the ole pipes. :)

Hmm, we can now role play the Jewish race? woohoo...
